Funny how some people's fiancees get advanced out of novicehood as soon as they join Glomdoring....seems nepotistic.
Manjanaia2005-05-05 16:34:24
Yeah. And siblings, in-laws, people who used to have power in their old places, goldfish...
Unknown2005-05-05 16:49:26
Well...that's how it seems to work - people who work as hard as they can quietly don't get noticed.

Problem solved!

Proof.
Politicians are evil.
.. Not that we didn't know that already.

You cant do that cause then people will call you "abrasive"
Jack2005-05-05 17:14:07
Then you can say "your mother's abrasive, ".
Again, problem solved!

You would be amazed as to how many people, you know, let pepole know that they arn't being recognized... it works wonders... if you do it properly.
Genos2005-05-05 17:32:39
I know how you feel, but even though it's sooo boring waiting to get out of novicehood there's a lot of productive stuff you can do. Especially when you had 100% power reserves to go around and forest a bunch of stuff around Glomdoring. Not too mention it's a lot of time to sit back and think of some great RP for your character. It's a drag though, but it's not surprising. Power always leads to corruption and such. It's a fact of life unfortunately...
Manjanaia2005-05-05 17:36:42
It's hard though to say to someone 'I am not being appreciated.' To me it feels like kind of an arrogant thing to do. Unless it was clear that you were busting a gut for the organisation, and you were deliberately being overlooked.
Genos2005-05-05 17:40:33
I do it a lot, it's more than saying "I'm not being appreciated." Just making comments helps a lot, like "Alright, just planted a nut here" or "Just carved a totem here." And then the occasional "I forested/tainted/flooded all of this." I find it's easier to do when being a Mage/Druid, since you can say when you've melded a village for defense and keep people updated. Especially if someone is raiding/stealing farmers because you can get them killed via your demesne or summoning into guards and saying it on GT or CT. I find it's easiest as a novice sicne they always ask "You guys doing alright?" and then you precede to say all the good stuff you're doing.
Richter2005-05-05 18:00:09
I understand those points, and though I'm not sure which guild you're in, I know that for the Ebonguard, I'll be working hard with Dag to make sure people get what they deserve.
Daganev's good at giving people what they deserve. *snicker*
So, if you do something cool, you might get advanced. If you know someone, it works the same way. Here in Lusternia, its only a matter of time though, and not endless hours of guild service. And as for guild service, being a loudmouth, etc, only the people in power need to know, you don't have to be loud to be recognized. There's that one guy in our guild, who has a hard to spell name I never remember, and most people don't know him, but we're aware he's a great worker!
Fight the power!

I so wish I had the power to hold novices back. Like the one who never says anything when you ask how he's doing. All I want is an answer a meh... would be fine.
Manjanaia2005-05-05 18:06:13
No GA campaigning here Richter
Genos2005-05-05 18:11:44
I think the main problem with the guilds now is that there's only one leader, and since it's hard for them to do all of the jobs they become the scapegoat when things go sour. I'm hoping there will be more stability when Glomdoring gets GA's and some Secretaries/Undersecs. Once they come it'll help a lot with favoring, advancing, and organization.
Bau2005-05-06 06:14:38
I'm doing my best to favour/advance, I've asked the guild who deserves a favour, et cetera, and I've listened when people have suggested certain individuals are advanced. I can't, however, read minds or see everyone. I'm running a guild, two shops and an Order - cut me just a bit of slack for not seeing everything, please.
So if you're a Blacktalon, or a Glomdorian, and you see someone going unrewarded (I don't check the powerlogs very often, though I do check the guild and commune logs quite regularly), let Bau know. She probably won't even bite your head off, most likely.
As many people are fond of saying, I can't fix what I don't know's broken.
