I don't know, it just seems like it'd be a strain on your eyes to be constantly looking at the bottom quarter of the screen. Maybe I'm underestimating your monitor size or something.
Manjanaia2005-05-09 16:27:06
Pretty big. It's like... 35cm, which is about... 20inches?
Shiri2005-05-09 16:30:05
I mean the resolution, but okay.
Manjanaia2005-05-09 16:32:33
1024 x 728
Shiri2005-05-09 16:41:53
Hrm. Well my downstairs monitor is like that and I'd still have that problem.
To each his own I guess.

Yeah, what IS that font used in Java? I can't find the right size/font for zmud.

Nor can I. If I could (and get the funky background thing) I'd switch over to zMUD in an instant.
EDIT: I think it might not be the font that makes it easy to read, but the fact that every character goes on a space, from a "'" to a "m." Like when you're typing a post here. I'm fairly sure zMUD doesn't do that, because it still looked spazzed out when I tried it.

The Nexus client looks fantastic. And like Nayl said, with Lusternia's superior graphics being showcased in there... the Nexus will simply be beyond wonderful.
Nayla and Nyla... now you two can start a family, seeing how both of you finally found each other and are living in the same commune! Long lost siblings, finally reunited!

Elryn2005-05-10 03:36:18
Will it be a webpage applet, or a standalone program for downloading?
Desdemona2005-05-10 03:40:34
Nexus is the upgraded Java client IRE normally uses, at least that's what I understand... so no downloading, just your normal Java access.
Edit: Click the link in the first page, then click the link Serapis offers to "test" the Nexus. I'm checking it out right now.

Ew... applets.
Looks great though.

I believe the whole point of the applet is so you don't have to download anything.
Athalas2005-05-10 05:09:13
It is alot prettier and has more features, but all those extra doo dads seem to add a good bit of lag compared to normal java. Really though, who NEEDS a compass! Are people that lazy these days?

Except of course for the applet and run-time environment.
Didn't work for me. Probably a region settings or permission thing - so I guess it may or may not work when the machine is rebooted.
I much prefer to download a standalone app to browser plug-ins.
But then, I guess those of us who do, are already using one
Daganev2005-05-10 06:20:03
Did they have to name it 'nexus'? I'm going to try to link to IRE games and Touch them to see how many users are online.

Only time I ever use the Java client, is when I'm at a place where I can't download zmud or something else. Hence, making it a standalone that you have to download, wouldn't help in such situations.
As for problems, be sure to report any and all you find, or you can email me full details and I can pass them along.

I once tried to create a fighting system with the java client, but keybinding to the keys Insert, Home, Del and End don't work. I need macros on those keys! There's too many cures otherwise

Space? You mean like this:
text blah i id qhp eii 1. sp\\"d jaio'e
instead of this?:
text blah i id qhp eii 1. sp\\"d jaio'e
Tried Courier New as a font yet? Looks kinda similar (to my eyes at least anyway).

I can't see anything, the site is blocked at work.
