I had a very evil thought as GM and that terrible terrible evil thought was to actually utilize ALL guildranks in the guild.
I am not asking about how bad this idea is... however, I'm not sure what the proper way to do this is.
As far as I know, nobody in IRE history has kept track as to how many guildfavours you need from how many people to get from GR1 to GR19
I was thinking of Messaging this question to Roark but was not sure if he would be allowed to tell me.
Its also clear that my GM favours are not the same as the favours from someone who is GR5. And as I GF my test dummy and have him favour other people, his favours get stronger and stronger.
soooo.. any suggestions on how to figure this out?
And yes, our guild structure requires that we know approxiatly how many GFs are needed and not to just have it happen when it happens.

I went from gr1 to gr2 with one favour from the GA. I then got another GA favour, and got bumped up to 3.
gr5 is definitely weaker than gr20, and each gr takes more favour to reach.
I wish I would have recorded the data from the Sentinels. Every few years for a while, we bumped everyone gr3-10 up one rank, and got everyone who could to help with gf'ing.

Dummy? Hmph!
Yes, the whole situation is annoying, because we don't know the numbers on it. Right now, I think it takes Dag two or three GF's to move me a rank. It takes about four of mine to move someone else a rank.
Any divine want to get us some numbers? *hope*

I've always thought GMs should be able to assign people whatever rank they want, or at least to be able to fully bump them up an entire rank.

Seems a bit off to test this out with your characters :/. I'd hate to see 'testing guildrank mechanics' in my guild log. Icky.
Can a divine give them an answer so they can make up half-decent reasons other than"MUST GET TO GR6!!!!"

yeah, I'll soon know how many GFs are needed up till GR7 but, its getting to become more and more obviously.
Sylphas2005-05-10 23:17:54
To get me gr6, it took a couple gr15ish, bit more gr10ish, and maybe 5 gr5ish. Going completely from memory from about a RL year or so ago.
Faethan2005-05-10 23:22:51
Wait, are you simply promoting people for the purpose of figuring out how the ranks are calculated, or are you structuring the guild in a certain way that requires you to promote these people, and then just figuring this out on the side?
Daganev2005-05-10 23:28:22
basically when you get to gr6 I think it is, you become eligable for being and undersecratry, and gr10 to become a secreatry etc. So both.
Sylphas2005-05-10 23:30:05
It'd be nice if GA/GM could appoint someone to a certain gr, assuming the GM/GA approves it.
Daganev2005-05-10 23:41:12
Lets say it takes 6 Guildfavours to get from gr9 to gr10. Thats going to mean I'm going to need 6 things do be done, with no more than one per month, so that the ranks can be given out.
Thats why I need to know the numbers, and can't just 'assign' people.

Still so dodgy, though. But meh, whatever.
Richter2005-05-11 00:19:02
Well, not really dodgy, I'm the test subject, and I'm continuously doing things for the guild anyway. And if I got GA, I'd be GR19 anyway... *nudge viravain*
Faethan2005-05-11 00:38:23
Eh, it strikes me as a little iffy, but I'm sure the divine know about it, and if they approve then I guess it's fine.
Xavius2005-05-11 03:17:59
Someone back in Achaea figured it out. Unfortunately, I don't remember either the exact numbers or the guy's name. I remember the basic idea, and hopefully that'll help you figure it out.
The strength of your favor is based entirely on your guildrank. A GR5 favor is worth 5 "points," and the GM's worth 20. It takes 15 points (I think. ) to get from GR1 to GR2, 20 points to go from GR2 to GR3, 25 to reach GR4, and so on. He never made mention if the points carry over from one rank to the next.

Hmmm does that work? so far I figured out that gr 1- 5 is one GF from GM and 6 and 7 are 2 GF from GM, so I assumed 10-15 is 3 and 15 -20 is four...
Daganev2005-05-11 04:52:27
Also does that mean gr6 is worth 6 points?
Iridiel2005-05-11 09:24:57
I heard something on that line from Achaea.
A gr5 favor are 5 points, gr6 6 points, gr7 7 points...
From gr1 to gr2 it's 10 points, gr2 to gr3 20, gr3 to gr4 40, and I think they acumulate from experience (2 gf from the GM get you to gr3 for example 40 points)

Well the GM, GA and Champ must have a higher GF then that since it takes 1 GF from gr1-2-3 from them.
Roark2005-05-11 12:12:46
Each guild rank takes more points than the previous to attain, just like any other leveling system in Lusternia (and pretty much any other game out there). The points earned from a GF is determined by how many points the caster has. Thus "number of GFs" is a nebulous figure since it determines who is giving out the GFs. As for getting to level 20... When I was a player, I got to something pretty high, like GR 16 or 17, from GFs alone. That included tons from GMs (GR 20), ex-GMs (GR 19), and divine patrons (GR ???). (Heh, I even got one from Sarapis when I was GR 3 because I thought there was a bug in it!) Despite all those strong GFs, it took me a few RL years to get that high. It was over 50% of the way to GR 19, but I expected it to be quite some time before getting there. GR 20, incidentally, is impossible to get other than being elected to GM.
