I just thought that was funny.
Because yes.. you HAVE to agree with Estarra.
Elryn2005-05-11 23:11:55
Um... yeah.
Another insightful post.

hehe... A post that only makes a comment about other posts being insightfull.. I love it!
See to me it sound like... 'Sorry dude, but I have to agree with gravity on this one, things just fall.'

Not at all. It's more like saying "gravity should be lighter on earth than it is now" (and pretend that wouldn't have vast effects on just about everything for the sake of the example.)
You don't HAVE to agree with Estarra, it just helps, because She's the one with the buttons and you aren't going to change that.
Elryn2005-05-11 23:20:20
You don't -have- to agree with Estarra though. Your analogy is false. I certainly don't agree with Estarra's view over certain recent changes. She's not really a God, you know.
I find that an incredibly silly thing to quibble over. Just because my opinion is the same as Estarra's, I shouldn't mention that little fact?
Edit: Wow, you're quick, Shiri!

Fine... its like saying ... 'Sorry dude but I'm going to have to agree with Robert Jordon on this one, The Aes Sedai just can't lie'
Estarra might not be a god but she is our world's Author.

Heh, you misunderstood.
I said: "They only get herbs and poisons if they pick lowmagic" (, so if they pick highmagic they don't get those two options.)
You read, "They only get herbs and poisons if they pick lowmagic" (, and they only get the other options if they pick highmagic.)
I could have worded it better, but I was still right.

Your kidding, right? There is absolutely no way that a guild in Serenwilde would be able to specialize in any totem except White Hart and Moon. The entire RP of forests is they are bonded to two and only two Great Spirits.
116462
Pfft, you could, you know, create one more. Seems pretty simple to me. Throw the Serenguard a bone anyways, we get the worst skills.
Gwylifar2005-05-12 14:50:16
It is so possible to balance Moon/Stag for Serenguard without unbalancing Moondancers/Hartstone. It just has to be done! There's several ways to do it; here are the three most notable/obvious:
1: Add an ability that duplicates an ability the other guild already has, either as an equal or lesser form. For instance: I can SPRINT in three different ways, one in Totems, one in Athletics, and one in Riding. There's room for more things like that. Imagine a new means of flying that was limited (drained endurance, for instance) added to Moon. Moondancers wouldn't profit at all since their brooms would always be the better way to fly, but Serenguard would gain. QED.
2: Add something that synergizes with Serenguard skills and needs, but not with Moondancers/Hartstone. As an obvious example, how about an ability in Stag which impaired one's ability to cure blademaster/bonecrusher-specific afflictions like broken jaw or severed tendons? The only way Hartstone could use that at all is in team play, while they have better things they could be doing in team play, but Serenguard could use it to synergize with their other attacks.
3: Abilities could be added which would conflict with the other guild's skills. A simple example: imagine a new Moon ability (similar to one that is in other IRE games) which caused all loyals in the room to run away, get dismissed, explode, go berserk, or whatever. Moondancers would hardly ever use this (and lose their own fae) but Serenguard could sure be using it to even the "passive attacks" imbalance for a few moments.
These are just obvious examples meant to prove the point. In actual application, you could do things much more clever and more interesting (as well as more reasonable) while still avoiding imbalances. It'd be fine to have an upgrade in Moon/Stag that was useful to the other guilds in small ways and useful to us in bigger ways, too, which broadens the range of possibilities.

Well since we're on the topic, you could like add more skills that they've done with Nightkiss and Drawdown, how it adds stats to weapons, I mean, you could like have Auras for the weapons with Moon and Night, which are like venoms but might be more effective and dont cost anything, as well as the proper skills? It could work!
Unknown2005-05-15 03:55:27
<3 the drawdown aura.
Desdemona2005-05-15 03:59:28
Is there a Stag equivalent?
Terenas2005-05-15 04:01:00
Newp. Stag remains inferior to Moon.
Well, the Totem Return, Gore, and Ringwalk are pretty good. But at least Stagcurse is better than Darkmoon in terms of afflictions.

Shiri2005-05-15 04:01:35
Shafts is better than ringwalk, too. We're not completely sucky anymore!
Gwylifar2005-05-15 13:49:19
Personally I think Stag and Moon have come out to be about even for Serenguard, after a while that Stag was clearly preferable.
Desdemona2005-05-15 17:44:49
Are you sure? Perhaps you meant Moon was preferable, or I'm just missing on important things going on in the guild. Because I was fairy certain that a lot of those who chose Stag ended up going Moon, or chose Moon at first.
On regards to Stag... I miss Stag Aura, still can't get closure on the issue that Stag Aura got replaced by Stag Hide. Anyway, I was thinking, why don't they replace Stag Hide with Stag Aura again? Only this time, just to not repeat the whole reason Stag Aura was replaced in the first place (um, provided physical defence), maybe this time, Stag Aura could have a similar effect than Drawdown Aura relating the alteration of weapon stats... or something like that.
Edit: Stag users would end up regaining a useful skill, which would also benefit the Serenguard a lot.

Previous to these changes, Stag was preferable, because of the face paints, which worked not very well, but better than not at all, for Serenguard. I don't think many people took Moon in hopes it was the more powerful path, any more than we did Blademaster; but if they did I bet they were disappointed.
After the changes, I'm guessing it's probably closer to equal, but right now, it's too soon to be sure.

You guys realise Glomdoring and Seren wiccans and druids actually share skillsets without sharing specific skills, right?
The only thing needed to balance Stag/Moon for Serenguard is a Serenguard specific version, like Blacktalon have a Crow-specific druidry. It's probably harder for the coders to work out than ours, but hey... that's why I'm a player. ^-^
