New Teleport/Summon/Tesseract changes

Back to Common Grounds.

Don't get so defensive, Torak. I was pointing out to you that using an ability is not spam. I didn't agree with your punishment for 'spamming' someone by using aethersight. Using summon to pull enemies out isn't really abuse. It costs power and so now, it won't happen as much.

Is it spammy when I strike with my swords, over and over again? Should I not do it so often, so as not to 'spam' a person with cut arteries and sliced open guts? What is spam!? biggrin.gif

Summon never worked unless the target was stupid or willing, it only had a remote chance if there was a team spamming it. Adding a power cost prevents this unpleasant situation, but also makes summon useless for hostile acts. *shrugs* I'm semi-happy with it.
Shamarah2005-05-13 13:45:38
Nothing too bad about the summon change, it's the teleport change that we're all mad about.
Marsu2005-05-13 14:22:57
I want two things:

1. For these changes to be reversed.

2. Names

Get over the whole ordeal of threats, it really is pathetic. You don't like the changes, fine, but killing the person in game for it would be ridiculous and totally pathetic roleplay, if the information was given here. Abusing the person OOC would be pathetic, too...just because.

Stop flexing your muscles, boys.

EDIT: Wow, I said pathetic a lot. How pathetic.
Marsu2005-05-13 14:39:22
Right and just because we want to know who suggested these changes obviously means that we want to break the ooc/ic barrier and kill them.
Unknown2005-05-13 14:40:25
I think it's a pain in the arse. I've teleported to Villages during raids, people whose services I needed, people who have needed my services, and to the nexus when I was finished hunting and wanted a quick way back. There was absolutely nothing wrong with teleport IMO. Envoy changes are supposed to represent what the playerbase wants. I'd like to know who the envoys talked to about these changes that made them feel the playerbase was represented accurately? Not a threat, i'm just wondering who told the envoys these changes needed to be made and what their reasons were.

I think the change to Teleport is really damaging to the unique aspect of Lusternia, namely the widespread travel that people do. We have different Planes, we have oceans, and we have a ton of ways to get around to all the different places in Lusternia.

One of the things that drew me to Lusternia as opposed to the other IRE games was the travelling aspect. While I agree summon and tesseract should have powercosts, I think that Teleport shouldn't because it remains a great way for newer players to still get around, and for more experienced players to get from point A to point B without having to trek across the highways or through the mountains. Let's face it, that's essentially a very boring part of the game. The limit on how fast you can move prevents you from doing it overly quickly, and with cows and such it's just an irritance.

Remove the cost on Teleport, and leave it for Tesser and Summon.
Manjanaia2005-05-13 15:14:36
Please. Please. Please. Change teleport back!

At least, make teleport nexus free.

Rhysus and Nokraemon and all others with similar comments are quite correct. This will simply waste time, and be incredibly boring.

For people making trade deals face to face, they will have much business closed to them, as there will be some people unwilling to travel to meet them from another organisation. They will wait for someone in their own organisation to do it, or find some other way of doing it. You may find that people will use inter-organisation trading as a last resort.

This will cause the world to become too large and there will be less interaction between people.

...I'm not so good at putting it as others, but please, I beg you (and evidently so do many others), put it back!

Oh, and I would love the envoys who recommended this to tell us why they did.

You're saying that travelling halfway across the world, or further, by pulling on invisible strands of the universe and turning yourself into sparkling motes of light isn't a feat? Don't take that to mean I like it how it is, but just put it at 1p, free for under level 21 or something. Makes little IC sense, but it'd help the newbies, and 1p isn't an insane price. Let's make judge not a feat, then. After all, we're only making a little beam of light.

Feel free to ignore, I'm in a weird mood, and I'll probably delete this in five minutes. Only thing serious there is lower the cost to 1p, and possibly free for newbies. Or give newbies 10p when they come into the Basin, no reserves. Or just loosen up with power rations. Everyone's got loads(Except Glom)
Nyla2005-05-13 15:22:30
Maybe its because I am chilling with 8 power total at the moment that this change seems rather drastic but fricking frickty frick frick.

Teleport nexus should be changed back to 0 power or 1 power from the person teleporting and 1 power from the nexus.
Terenas2005-05-13 15:25:32
I doubt that the changes will be reversed so soon after being implemented. But if we're keeping the power cost, it would be great if teleport nexus's time was cut down in half rather than 10+ seconds. Oh well, annoying change, but we'll adapt to it.

That's certainly what many people have said.

I miss all the bitching. Wow. Anyone besides me think this would boost the usefulness of Via and (further increase) the ability of Flow? Flow should lose entourage, including non-guild ents (stag, crow, fae).

I got to page four then stopped reading. XD
Erion2005-05-13 16:18:54
And, drop Teleport to one, make summon stay at 3, teleport nexus/mutual allies is free. Summon is free if you have them lusted. Think empress w/ delay. Bam. Next? *wields spatula* Oo, WoW...

Saved you all the time of starting a thread.  Complain away, but remember these changes came from YOUR envoys.

I'm not reading this entire thread of repeated arguments, but, i'm going to throw in my own :-P

1. Spores just became IMMENSELY useful.
2. Moonbeam just became IMMENSELY useful.
3. Hermit just became IMMENSELY useful.
4. Catacombs (tarot) just became IMMENSELY useful.
5. Travel paintings just became IMMENSELY useful.

I mean, come on, we've had all of those means for travel which were used almost solely for combat, and now, *gasp* we have to use them in normal situations too! For shame!
Singollo2005-05-13 17:05:03
I want to know why the producers/coders thought it would be a wise idea to disenfranchise warriors even FURTHER. It affects two parties in a large way, newbies, and warriors, who generally do not have a global transport skill or even a way to get to villages/home thats cost effective anymore. Getting to Astral now costs 10 power without nexus

What I think needs to happen, as a compromise?

-Teleport Nexus needs to take no power.
-Teleport and Tesseract need to not be stopped by anything that won't stop other teleport abilities. (you should be able to do score, light a pipe, stat, nstat, etc without wasting a good chunk of power now)
-Nexus and Tesseract need to be swapped in Planar since Tesseract is obviously more powerful, costing 5 power.

You can keep summon the way it is. It's easier to just rescue someone or use other summoning methods for enemies, unless of course you're a warrior, but then nobody cares about warriors.

Doesn't make sense to me. Just about everyone on these forums has at some point or another complained about most of those skills being too overpowered or too good or whatever. Maybe I missed the posts about teleport being to overpowered. blink.gif
