2. Moonbeam just became IMMENSELY useful.

Watch me moonbeam from Serenwilde to Estelbar, oh, or even from one half of Serenwilde to the other.

Complain away, but remember these changes came from YOUR envoys.

This comment will only be true when GMs have the ability to appoint Envoys without requesting a change from their Patron. Until then, they're in no way representatives of their Guilds.

Because despite what the helpfiles and guild privs say, GMs cannot do so.

Ok.. step out onto the highway, have your target do the same, and poof, you just moonbeamed from Serenwilde to Estelbar.
Terenas2005-05-13 17:11:04
Didn't your Envoys work with your guilds in the process of writing these reports and posted them on your guild board or something though? Murphy, Narsrim, and myself all had inputs from our guilds and other guilds that share the same skills when we composed our reports. There is no reasons why you shouldn't be aware of what your Envoy suggested, unless of course you can't read guild posts or something.

That works real well on raiders, or when someone is defending doesn't it, or when I need an escape route fast.
Nokraenom2005-05-13 17:14:35
Not all of us have Envoys who do what they should. Then again, if GMs had the power to appoint and oust Envoys, like they are supposed to, it wouldn't be a problem.

I don't have a problem with needing to get our Envoy approved through Raezon, because Raezon is a cool cat and has been a good Patron that I've seen and experienced thus far. However, Hajamin's statement that implies the Envoys are representatives of the collective will of their Guild is a flat lie.

Singollo, as a Serenguard, wtf are you talking about? You are never going to be the ONLY defender, and then, you just follow the person who is flowing, or moonbeam to them, or whatever. So yeah, it works just fine in raiding situations.
Faethan2005-05-13 17:21:53
I kinda skipped 4 pages, so forgive me if this had already been suggested, but perhaps the following changes could be made:

teleport to someone who has you on their ally list - 0p
teleport to your nexus - 0p
teleport to a random person in local area - 1p
teleport to a random person anywhere - 3p

Quite obviously you have been out of the loop of dynamics and possibilities for quite some time. No, I can't always find someone to flow, because they're already defending, and flow is completely useless for raiding. No, I don't usually have spores, and no, I can't totem return. So if I need to quickly get somewhere I have to waste 3 power, and hope someone doesn't attack me or force me to do something. Moonbeam is local area, and limited in usefullness, teleport was by far more versatile, simply by the usage factor.

Have an envoy that knows combat and how our skills work? Have the envoy actual -discuss- changes? Post to the boards? What novel concepts.
Devris2005-05-13 18:00:13
So, I went to bed after posting, and came back to find no decent posts from the envoys who were in favour of the change. I've seen some arguments, and another envoy posting about "Why didn't you talk to your envoy?". Well, we are asking you as an envoy now, on why this change was completely necessary. I agree with everyone who has posted (Tuek) that the ease of transportation is what drew me to this realm as opposed to other IRE realms. If everything is going to cost power to use now, then this is going to become an extremely boring place. Do you really think every city/commune is going to up the power restrictions so much that you can use these skills? If you don't like getting summoned, drop a monolith. Not very difficult.

Just my humble suggestions. (to envoys or whomever)

1. Stop changing skills so they all take power
2. Make TELEPORT NEXUS free from power usage
3. Start talking to the General Populace about what you are proposing
4. See number 3 again

Desdemona2005-05-13 18:30:01
Well, I guess I finally have a reason to draw Power. tongue.gif Eh... not that I like the fact that now Teleport costs power, though, I'm just one of the few that will probably manage because I have a Low Power cost... it was inexistant until today. laugh.gif

Anyway, fortunately we have the whole Aetherplex and Catacombs network of transporations working properly... for those who know how to get to the portal chambers, or those brave enough to tempt the fates.

Edit: Something I want to add is that ENVOYS should follow Terenas' sugestion and discuss their ideas with their guildmates, before they submitt their reports. Especially when dealing with nerfing/upgrading NON-guild skills.
Bau2005-05-13 21:26:17
I submitted what the guild asked me to, with one suggestion of my own. We discussed some of it. And Sylphas says it's -all- a novel idea? Pfft. One person can't speak to everyone, and you were all encouraged to message me.

Hours later... the whining still comes out. Maybe I'll check back tomorrow and it mighta slowed a bit.

As soon as you can stop the 5-6 people that use as much power as the rest of the commune put together, so we're making a profit, we can talk about increasing the allocations. tongue.gif

You're not, but we don't block them until I catch them. I've been waiting for an unrelated thing to bring that up as something to change, though.

On balance, I like this change. Makes walking, and finding your way around, more valuable. Also should decrease random killings -- how many times has someone said that the widespread availability of virtually-no-cost teleport/summons is responsible for a lot of the random killing? But I do have to agree: TELEPORT NEXUS should be free, and it shouldn't cost you power until it goes through, not on a failure.
Daganev2005-05-13 21:46:54
I like the policy I came up with for the commune.

If the commune doen'st gain X amount of power each month, anyone who drew more power then they put in gets blocked for one month for every power they took out beyond what they put in.

All you need is one poweraide with zmud to keep track.

Low maintence, everyone gets power, and if they group ever fails as a whole, everyone who was greedy gets uber punished.

If TELEPORT NEXUS were free, I think lot's of people's issues would be fixed.

Ya know, i think Paintings, the Stag Totem and Knights just got a big break happy.gif Isn't it great how you can sprint from halfway across the Basin to the other side in a few mere seconds? tongue.gif
Though Port is one of the major skills, there's quite a few other skills that we have, just get someone to chuck a mushroom circle outside the Newton Caverns for Newbies, i'm sure at least every city/commune cept Glom has a Painting somewhere close by on Avechna's peak. Other then that, i guess it'll pay to let a Forestal now forest a room and raise a mushroom circle near or in the Cities, seeing as they're free for transport.
Athana2005-05-14 03:00:34
don't forget manses...instant transport to any city/commune!!

Edit: maybe not Glom...since I doubt they are linking manses yet
Unknown2005-05-14 03:05:10
We have one, since someone made a mistake, not mentioning any names *coughGwyncough* tongue.gif And i certainly hope we dont have anymore Manses linked, we're having trouble getting to 50K as it is. closedeyes.gif
Unknown2005-05-14 03:05:57
I love using Manses to travel.
