Back to Common Grounds.

Before I read the rest of this thread for maybe an Admin saying something, I just have one thing to say:

I'm glad I bought World of Warcraft and Guild Wars. And Rome: Total War.
Bau2005-05-14 07:10:06
Rome Total War rocks ^-^

I am, sadly, still playing Civilization III when I'm not online.
Unknown2005-05-14 09:10:31
I don’t have any power what-so-ever!

I get lost in the forest, let alone wandering out of it. I didn’t explore until after I used up all the portals available to me. The only reason I learn teleport was so that I can always get back to the nexus when I did get lost.

Oh well…

Back when Lusty opened, and I first started playing... I freaked. I totally forgot about portals, cause I hadn't been a novice in a while and never used em much anyway, not since Imperian first opened. So I did what I always do when I start on new muds, and map the areas I use. Eventually, you get the hang of it.
Unknown2005-05-14 09:35:03

I tried mapping, and died to a gravedigger!

Bau2005-05-14 09:45:32
Hehe, somehow I mapped that whole bit either by luck, or before gravediggers appeared (I spent my entire first day on Lusternia mapping)
Unknown2005-05-14 09:57:53
My mapping thing never worked in Zmud, so I got over it.
Bau2005-05-14 10:01:12
It works if you fix a few things, it took me ages and lots of screwups to get used to it. (I never claimed to be -good- at these things)

Not all of us have Envoys who do what they should. Then again, if GMs had the power to appoint and oust Envoys, like they are supposed to, it wouldn't be a problem.

I don't have a problem with needing to get our Envoy approved through Raezon, because Raezon is a cool cat and has been a good Patron that I've seen and experienced thus far. However, Hajamin's statement that implies the Envoys are representatives of the collective will of their Guild is a flat lie.

Now it may or may not be a bug, but lets take a look at the help file.

QUOTE
This position is generally appointed by the Guild Patron, though the Guildmaster may also make the appointment.

Now, that does not say the GM has the power to put somewhere to envoy, it says he may choose who it is. Which wouild mean he can ask the Patron for have so-and-so placed as envoy.

Yet another reason to make sure your guild HAS a Patron, and that the Patron is available to assist the guild.

And watch what you say about the administrators, We are the ones who decide what is and is not a bug, not you. Don't call Us liers because YOU THINK something is wrong, even in you are correct that something is not the way it should be.
Shoshana2005-05-14 10:07:08
Unless you were mapping before closed beta, you got very very lucky with gravediggers...

Add my vote to the "Don't mind the other changes but teleport nexus should be free" camp. Wasn't the whole point of power to be able to have very powerful combat abilities that couldn't be used very often in a short amount of time? That kind of vaguely makes sense for normal teleport/summon, and tesseract could be seen as needing the extra power to get to a different plane, but it doesn't really work for teleport nexus, which is slow enough that it can't really be abused anyway...

Edit: for everyone else who didn't understand this post - I was being a smartarse till I realised Hajamin had posted the one I was posting in reply to. I thought perhaps I'd rather not like my backside handed to me on a platter.

Yikes, Hajamin, bit defensive there. wacko.gif You misinterpreted my posts, I do think.

Bau pointed out that there is indeed an inconsistency between the GM's guild appointment privs description, the helpfiles (which imply the GM can appoint the envoy directly, at least when I read them), and the actual game mechanics. So, there's definately a bug/oversight in there somewhere. You're the Admins, I leave it to you guys as to which one is wrong.

QUOTE(Hajamin @ May 12 2005, 11:53 PM)
Complain away, but remember these changes came from YOUR envoys.

However, I said your statement (quoted above) that implied guild envoys were representative of the guild population was just untrue, and it is untrue. I pointed out that the majority of several guilds never saw the envoy report or had a chance to offer input. It's just impossible for the envoy report to be truly representative of the guild when it's 1 person consulting with 2 or 3 others. That's representative of a very small subset of the guild, not the guild. wink.gif That was my point, not that the inconsistancies between guild privs, helpfiles, and game mechanics suddenly make you all liars (that just means there was a mistake in there).

OUR envoys. Was this manditory between every single envoy? This change doesn't effect a single class, or class skill. This effects the entire population of Lusternia. Planar is a skill obtainable by any members of any commune or city of any class of any race of any level of skill. That's 100% of lusternia that got effected by the decisions of less than 1% of the population? It's logical to let those elected people who are not always elected by everyone and not everyones input is given, make a decision effecting everyone in the relms? I highly disagree with that.

Edit (in response to below): Yeah, I play both...and I wasn't thinking much. Sorry.

I have one thing to say to any and all Magnagorans who complain about this:

Do it IC and watch Llexyn powerblock you for a real long time. Magnagora's overgenerosity on power shouldn't make a difference about how much -any- skill that requires power takes. I, personally, think this was a fine change and no, it wasn't the Geomancer envoy report that suggested this.
