As you may have noticed, the resource page on our website is rather thin. I've asked before if there were any Lusternia sites out there that you think may be suitable to put onto the website (especially any sites that cater to guilds and/or cities/communes), so I thought I'd ask again.
Two resources that have been suggested are Lusternia Radio and the Lusternia IRC game chat room. Are there any gateway pages to these sites that perhaps gives instructions on how to set them up? Or an easy-to-understand, short paragraph with links to the appropriate sites on what to download?
Suggestions welcomed!

For the radio, download winamp (Supposedly TiVo works also, but that I know nothing of)
Then just click the link.

For Lusternia Radio, all I know that it defaults to my RealPlayer.

Click on the top left corner of the winamp player when you're done installing it, and it will have a list of options. Click Play, slide the mouse to URL, then link it to http://rs9.radiostreamer.com:8800/listen.pls . It will automatically connect and start playing.
Edit:Â Also, if you already have Winamp, just click the link.

Don't make people go out and get crappy software they don't need.
Windows Media Player: File, Open URL and enter the URL.
Edit: Or Realplayer depending on your preferences, Estarra. Personally I just dislike Winamp.

Works on realplayer? Neat. Wasn't sure of that one.

We're also quite possibly in need of more djs, which to do you'll need winamp (available here), with the shoutcast dps plugin, available here (please note that while it says it needs winamp 2, it also works with winamp 5). Then after that, you're best off contacting Alyssandra to find out when you can dj and how to set up everything right.
Also, if you're going to DJ, you'll be best finding your way to the IRC channel, because that's one of the easier places to coordinate from.

How can you make that assumption from me saying Winamp is crap?
....
Right...

You mentioned not making people get something they didn't need. XP doesn't come with the latest version of wmp, you still need to upgrade that.

Lusternia Radio works with WMP 8.
Sylphas2005-05-14 20:11:50
I hate WMP, and would delete it if I could. I wish that all my games and such worked on Linux without busting my ass making them work, because it's annoying to have to clean out all the crap that comes with Windows, half of which it flips out if you get rid of.

Ahh, the beauty of operating systems. Conform.

BTW, this thread has been pinned in the hopes of suggestions for the resource page.

WEEEEEE, I stopped being lazy and downloaded the Realplayer RPM and now can listen to wonderful *cough* music. Why Fain is playing Primus I'll never understand....
Hajamin2005-05-14 20:25:43
For Linux users having a problem getting connected, this Realplayer works:

Lusternia radio works on MMJB too.
Vix2005-05-14 20:43:05
I'm sure Jelani's (or was it Jalain's?) site would like to be posted too. www.ironportal.org? The LusterWiki thingy.
EDIT: Yah, it's Jalain's.

It wouldn't be hard to throw up a little informal, here's how you get to IRC page... albeit I don't know if a public declaration of the radio channel is that great an idea because the number of listeners is limited.
Seriously though, where's all the inter-guild sites? Those are the most fun.

Ah, the mother of all Hijacks

Lusternia radio works in MMJB as well. You can also get a TiVo to play it, but you have to use a slightly different URL: http://212.72.186.18:8800/
For a "how to get into IRC" page, I'd suggest just going to http://www.gamesnet.net/.
