Since Summer said it so well at the beginning of TSG3, I'll reference a bit of what she wrote.
- Elders (and everyone else) vote against whoever they think is Soulless during the day. Votes can be changed, but whatever's there at the end of the day is final. For ease of keeping track, please bold your votes!
- Guardians, Seers, and Soulless do their special thing at night (in addition to voting during the day as though they were regular Elders). These night choices should be PMed to me.
- Guardians can guard anyone (including Soulless) except themselves.
- Soulless start off knowing who all the other Soulless are. No one else knows anyone's role. Soulless should thus talk with each other to make decisions, really. If I get multiple names from the Soulless, I'll go by whichever had the most votes or (as you probably don't want me to do) pick randomly from the names submitted to decide the intended victim.
- Seers will be told the exact role (Seer, Guardian, Elder, Soulless).
- The game is over when number of Soulless = Elders or when all Soulless have been ousted.
- Any reference to roles (especially in day / night kills) made by me should be ignored.
- If you have not received a message from me indicating your role (or if you forget your role), let me know!
- Feel free to talk during the day when alive. At night, you're sleeping ... shhh. When you're dead, you're dead (haunt the thread as a ghost if you wish, but anything of substance should be avoided. The dead don't share the same concerns as the living, shh!).
- Nights will last until all votes are in, or 24 hours (or whenever I get here after the 24 hours)
- Days will last48 36 hours (or whenever I get here after the 48 36 hours)
TSG5 specific add-in, clues:
Each player has 3 attributes known about them. Everyone has either dark or light hair, is either tall or short, and (though magical skills in fighting abound) has a preference for physical attacks of either cutting or crushing (in a general sense). Due to the small number of attributes and relatively few players, everyone is alike to at least one other person.
After each night that the Soulless attempt a kill, even if said attempt fails, one attribute from one of the Soulless still alive (picked at random) will be revealed somehow as a clue.
Edit:
Just as a random comment, since I've gotten some feedback. For those of you who might be glad of your roles, I'm glad. For those of you who might not be so happy with your roles, I sympathize. I wrote everyone's name on a slip of paper, folded 'em up, jumbled them together, and picked randomly. Luck (or lack thereof) of the the draw! If I mention names at all during any of the snippets, this will also be how they'll be chosen. So yes, it might be a Soulless revealing the clue, which might even conceivably be about themselves. Silly Soulless.

This time around, we have 21 players: 5 Soulless, 2 Seers, 2 Guardians, and 12 regular Elders.

It begins ...
Confused and worried, some survivors of the last place infiltrated by the Soulless flee their home and travel to another town of Elders far away. They are greeted first with warmth and next, after they tell their tale, with wariness. Have they unknowingly brought the curse of the Soulless with them, or was that curse perhaps already lying in wait for their arrival?
After a brief voicing of the concern, the inhabitants of this new area decide not to turn away the refugees. Instead, they are invited to eat and drink and rest. As dusk darkens the land, the group disperses to sleep. Each can only hope time will not prove their concerns true...
Night 1
Seekers and Guardians, decide who to scry and guard.
Soulless, choose who to attack.
(All of the above, PM me. Soulless, if you choose to have one of your number act as a spokesperson rather than all messaging me, feel free to do so.)

Thats funny. All my attributes are true about me in RL.
Ashteru2005-05-16 22:00:13
So you like cutting, eh?
Unknown2005-05-16 22:28:25
Same with me actually, and yes I like crushing
everyone.
Now go to sleep! It's night!
everyone.

I would rather be cut than be bludgeoned... I think.

Maybe it's just me, I can't stand blood.

sarcasm/
Because being nothing but a pile of broken bones and bruised flesh is so much better.
/sarcasm
Shiri2005-05-17 03:13:52
Psh, not an accurate comparison. It's the difference between a bruised arm and a cut arm. I'd rather have the bruise, it doesn't sting as badly (nor does it get in my keyboard and stuff so I have to go away. )

No you don't. Trust me
I just totally obliterated one of my toe by accidently hitting a chair this afternoon. I'd trade that pain with a cut anytime
Heck, i hit that chair so hard my toe is still sore and it's nearly midnight here
Shiri2005-05-17 03:30:16
Oh, yeah, stubbed toes...hmm. I'm more thinking like when I got kicked in the jaw because I didn't dodge quick enough doing Tae Kwon-Do. :/ Hurts, but I prefer that to being cut.

Seers and Guardians are prompt.
Only have 2 Soulless responses of the 5, but at least they're both about the same person, so if I don't get any more I'll go with that. Three and a half more hours, if I'm counting right.
(Oy, that last bit isn't what you want to hear, is it? "if I'm counting right" *sparkle*)
Oh, and no worries, blastron. I'll whip 'em back into shape when the time comes. *hum*
Summer2005-05-17 12:25:25
Hey, it's crushing, not bruising. Think bones smashed into itty bitty pieces. I'd rather get cut... I think
Annelia2005-05-17 12:29:33
Nah Summer, go for the crushing.. At least then you don't see blood, unless a bone goes through the skin
Shiri2005-05-17 12:30:00
If it's crushing, then it's probably more stabbing than cutting as an equivalent. I'm less sure about this one, but I think I might before a broken leg to a stabbed gut.
Ashteru2005-05-17 12:34:01
Broken things only hurt if you stress them, cuts and the like always hurt.
Believe me, I've had more things broken then anyone else on my team, and I still prefer a broken finger over a suppurating cut on the right arm.
Now, shouldn't we come back to the original use of this thread?

I prefer cuts to crushes, and I've had my share of both.
(Think bread knife meets my hand through bread roll).

Hmmmm... Haven't got any major cuts before. Worst cut I ever gotten was when the wood-carving thing slipped and carved a couple inches across my arm instead of the wood . Them cuts don't seem to hurt except when I think about them though. Must be psychological *mutter mutter*
And hey, the Soulless are taking so long to decide, we might as well have fun while they're deciding.

The quiet of the night lay too heavily on a few restless gods. Instead of drifting off to sleep, they woke and moved and some even spoke of random things to others. A figure, indescript in the darkness except when the moonlight shone off of its light hair, was glimpsed a few times, walking steadily and alone. It was a figure barely seen and too easily dismissed, unfortunately.
This light haired wanderer was in fact a Soulless, having recently decided not to hide any longer and fully confident of winning in the end. And this, the first night, would be all the more glorious for being unsuspected.
Where the shadows deepend as clouds hid the moon, the figure calmly entered the room where Silvanus slept. The bare remnants of a candle sputtered fitfully, and the light caught on the fingertips of the hand the Soulless stretched out toward the bed. Fingernails shuddered and thickened, growing into claws. Almost gently, the hand lowered to rest on Silvanus's neck. One fingertip moved carefully. Grumbling, Silvanus shifted and half-raised his arm to swat away the annoyance. Then his senses woke enough to recognize an intruder; his mouth opened to shout--
Too late. Eyes gleamed with pleasure as they watched the claws close over Silvanus's neck, puncturing through flesh and blood, gripping his throat and ripping it out in one swift, violent motion.
With the last bit of life draining from him, Silvanus gaped blindly into the darkness. Only a flicker illuminated the shadows of his assailant. Only a flicker, and then nothing.
Thus ends Night 1 and Silvanus's life at the hands (or claws) of a Soulless...
Day 1
