Elryn i also believe there are numerous things within Serenwilde you can bash, there's always a few Cows on the Highways, the Thingies that'r in the Moon River and the Tree Frogs

Of course there are things to kill, but my point is that Serenwilde is simply is not the bashing ground that Glomdoring is. The highway isn't part of Serenwilde for a start, and the frogs and doe and so on hardly rate as wonderful bashing, not much more than weevils do.

This is quite ok, Serenwilde has other advantages.
Daganev2005-05-20 16:04:27
as far as I know, all the quests that make glomdoring a viable hunting ground have been removed.
Xenthos2005-05-20 16:21:01
Except for the "quest" to kill things.

Don't earn much cash, but the experience piles up anyhow.
Daganev2005-05-20 16:26:21
untill you reach level 30, then its just pathetic.
Xenthos2005-05-20 16:36:05
I'm about to hit level 67 off of the Glomdoring critters tongue.gif They're easy, they still give experience, don't even need to use health vials to bash 'em...

The point is, someone can kill every Fae in Faethorn very quickly and efficiently, and not have to wait for honeycombs, or go and give them to a player cook (versus Butter). It's far easier, and a huge advantage when in the future there is actual competition (of which there is none now). It's set in favour of Glomdoring for when that does occur.

As it was pointed out, you are enemied upon killing a fae and the Knights and other fae will attack you. Now, alot of can bash the fae and be fine handling them, but low level/novices and the smaller people in general cannot, while anyone in Serenwilde can grab a honeycake and do the quest.
Sylphas2005-05-20 18:21:42
Unuchi killed close to a dozen fae, as a novice ebonguard.

Also, anyone in Glomdoring can ALSO grab a honeycake and get fae that way. There's really no arguing that it's skewed toward Glomdoring. You can argue if that's fair or not, but not the fact that it is.

I'm under the impression we cannot lead Fae to our Avatars. They want them "as cold as Night Herself". Thus, our ONLY way is to kill Fae. Only. Meaning we're faethorn enemied, and that we cannot give the staff of Kiakoda to Maeve. Someone who isn't enemied would have to. Shrug.

You're right, though. It is rather unbalanced. Killing fae is faster than leading fae. But it's the same with Mag/Celest. Celest has to lead fae to Raziela, Mag just needs to kill. Oh. And, you're looking at this power quest thinking "overpowered!" Well, Celest need only do a few quick things to get large amounts of experience and do the entire powerquest. A level 48 igasho ur'guard has problems cleaning off spectre (those paladins can be nasty) before the corpses decay, find all the hobos, get all the spikes into statues, and give 'em to the dude at the Necromentate. Recap: Sand -> Globe -> Hand(s) -> Kinsmen/women & kids -> Tabernacles is much faster than bashing all of spectre and doing it that way. Sadly, this time around one team has the easy way - bashing. Although, bashing fae knights, while unbindable, that does take honeycakes out of your hands. smile.gif

Just defend 'em. S'all that can be done. Although I think they could do with an upgrade. tongue.gif

Did it change then? Last time I bugged the Night avatars, they wanted them dead, but said they'd accept them alive if they had to.
Erion2005-05-20 20:44:59
They only say dead, now. I remember that. At least, Lhiannan said dead, or made a snide comment about being merciful. I noticed that once we became a commune. They request them dead.

This could have changed again, give I've not been on Ethereal (not to mention Lusternia) for weeks.
Daganev2005-05-20 22:26:51
if what the people in serenwilde say is true and faethorn is naturaly more suited to be with serenwilde then I don't see how its geared towards being with glomdoring.

This sounds like a case of different but equal.

As was said, the Faethorn represents every physical aspect of Nature. Maeve represents every SPIRITUAL aspect of Nature - IE the Greater Spirits - Moon, Hart, Crow, Night, River, Bear. Instance - look at the Faethorn. The southern half is partially twisted; while no SURVEY says "tainted forest", the room descriptions very much are corrupted. The northern side are much more silvery, more in tune to Moon. The northwestern side is much more watery, the southeastern side as well is tainted, due to it's connection to Earth. The Faethorn is Nature, in it's varying aspects.
