Subj: Deafness, Blindness and Sixth Sense

Lusternia has always meant to treat deafness and blindness as serious
ailments that you should never want _except_ as a side effect of sixth
sense. Somewhere along the lines this intent became lost so we have
worked to rectify it. Below are the changes:

Deafness - If you are deaf, you are basically cut off from all forms of
communication. This includes, but may not be limited to, tells, says,
channels, or being notified when you get a message. Sixth sense will
prevent this handicap.

Blindness - If you are blind, you will (obviously) not be able to see or
find anything. THIS INCLUDES THE ABILITY TO TARGET. Sixth sense will
prevent this handicap.

If you have sixth sense up and are afflicted with the ailment of
blindness or deafness, it will strip sixth sense and leave you both
blind and deaf.

If you are cured of blindness while you have sixth sense up, you will be
stripped of sixth sense and be left deaf. Likewise, if you are cured of
deafness while you have sixth sense up, you will be stripped of sixth
sense and be left blind.

It's an evil change tongue.gif
Rhysus2005-05-19 18:05:25
Yikes. That is a painful change. Anyone selling faeleaf by the thousands?
Estarra2005-05-19 18:07:20
This was the affliction change I mentioned in the other thread that may have an impact upon combat. As stated in the post, I've always, always meant for Lusternia to treat being blind and deaf as ailments and not defenses. The useful defense is sixth sense. For some reason, I had assumed we did this during closed beta and only recently found out that we didn't. (After I kept arguing with Hajamin that sipping the blindness poison was a terrible mistake for a fighter until he proved me wrong.) Anyway, I hope this makes combat more interesting and somewhat more realistic.
Kaervas2005-05-19 18:10:09
This will make things interesting to say the least.
Unknown2005-05-19 18:13:57
love it!!!
Gregori2005-05-19 18:17:20
Nice change, now please consider the overlap of affliction curing. *flutter*
Eiru2005-05-19 18:43:49
How about giving faeleaf it's own balance?
Shoshana2005-05-20 08:03:11
Does targetting refer to targetting limbs, or being able to hit at all?
Unknown2005-05-20 08:14:39
Ya know, i love it how curing yourself of afflictions only takes Mana and no equilibrium *contentsigh* tongue.gif Anyway, i like the changes, brings more realism, i mean soon they'll make it so ya cant Outr while paralysed wink.gif Then we'll be dead.
Revan2005-05-20 08:17:00
You can't outr while webbed *shrug*
Unknown2005-05-20 08:18:28

Doesn't being deaf stop the Nihilist pooka skill from working?
Jack2005-05-20 16:15:56
Yes, it does.

And scourge just became funner.
Nayl2005-05-20 16:19:33
As a note: the Nihilist skill is dominate. And needs you to be not-deaf.
Ceren2005-05-21 18:53:38
that isn't too hard to bypass though, right? just get your demon to double afflict with sensitivity dominate. problem solved
Sylphas2005-05-21 21:29:15
Nihilists can't strip deafness without hexes.
Ceren2005-05-21 23:48:13
sensitivity strips deafness, no?
Sylphas2005-05-21 23:53:46
Can they invest with sensitivity, though? I remember a whole thread on dominate and how it's not really useful since Nihilists without hexes can't strip deafness.
