Ouch.
And yes, nerf Glomdoring's free spinneret near-monopoly please.

While we're on the subject, Glomdoring has a pretty impressive monopoly on poisons. No other area in the whole world, not even the entire Astral Plane, has as many poisons as Glomdoring does. The next closest is half as many. Serenwilde has one poison (tetrodin, deafness) within it; Celest has partial dominion over one via the Water Elemental Plane (morphite, sleep); Magnagora has partial dominion over two via the Earth Plane (crotamine, death; senso, slickness); and Glomdoring has control over four and partial control over a fifth.
I think there's some transitions from "bashing area" to "commune" that haven't quite been done yet.

Compared to the other organizations, they're way better of then we are... we have, no comms, basically no power, well 46K compared to the 200K, basically no fighting force, -one- room with Guards, and a few totems scattered around Glomdoring. Stop Whining! I mean, you all complained with Serenwildes monopoly on Alchemy, now that's gone, your trying to nerf Glomdorings supposed monopoly on Silk... though we dont have a village so it doesn't matter.
Ya know, while we're at it, why dont we just nerf Night and Crow as well? We have a monopoly on them, since we have the only two guilds that can get them, in other words, stop trying to nerf us, we just got here are your already trying to knock us down.

Well, the nice bashing area that was Glomdoring is now a commune, and the majority of things (such as spinnerets and toxins) that are in the no-longer-freely-accesable Glomdoring are unique. So we're going to have to raid for spinnerets and poisons now!

Woa there pony, calm down!
We just want a place where we can get our silk and venoms, I don't want Glomdoring nerfed.

Dairuchi and Angkrag both make more silk then the spinnerets can make, stop complaining!
Shorlen2005-05-23 12:04:05
I wasn't complaining - I was just pointing out that the price of silk has tripled (litterally) and was pointing to the only cause I could think of, and proposing a possible solution. I said nothing at all about the Glomdoring commune being better or worse off than we are or anything - only that commodity quests should be, in my opinion, equal opportunity quests.
Ignoring the commodity issue, I think it a little silly that those who wish to do the Tosha Monestary quest need to raid a commune to do so, if they happen to be enemies of that commune.

Firsly, Furrikins in Estelbar, have to raid to get them for Acknor, Dwarves in Angkrag have to be raided out from Southguard or Rockholm, how is either of these different from the Spinnerets in Glomdoring, except there is only one spinneret and it's not nessecary, if you want constant silk, either fork over the cash and buy it from a comm shop, Dairuchi, Angkrag or Magnagora, or try and get Dairuchi when it revolts.

Is that also not the same with, those who want to do the Slave Masters Quest, Mansion, Match Makers, Chieften, Shepard and the Caregivers, since they are all located within organization owned areas, wouldn't this count as raiding as well?
Shorlen2005-05-23 12:34:29
The difference is between villages and city/communes. Villages can be influenced by anyone (with a single odd exception, Angkreg), and thus, are not static city/commune territory. If you wan to do those quests you mentioned, and you are an enemy of the city that currently controls the village, then take the darn village next time it revolts, or stop whining Now, I'd love to take Glomdoring next time it revolts, but I don't think that'll happen for a while.

While I'm not at all happy with the current availability of silk, I'm going to yet again repeat the fundamental principle of economics that no one ever listens to so I don't know why I bother probably just to hear the sound of my own voice but here it goes anyway...
No good or service comes with an _inherent_ value. If you're a tradesman who can't keep up with demand, it's for one reason, and one reason only: you're underpricing.
Lusternia is a closed environment with a finite amount of commodities available at any given moment. In the real world, increased demand would result in increased production to meet demand, but it just don't work that way here. Not on any significant scale. Ergo...
The people who do a lot of charity work or try to price their goods to sell in bulk are the ones destroying the economy and creating shortages.
Drop the sense of entitlement, stop blaming circumstance, and take some personal responsibility for your own lot in life already.

I do believe it is pronounced and spell Angkrag And if you want silk so much, go take Dairuchi when ever it revolts, one silk per what? half day sometimes isn't going to matter, who knows, maybe if you ask nicely you could get unenemied or we might even give it to you... but i dont see that happening
