Battle for Faethorn

by Estarra

Back to Common Grounds.

Since there were complaints about the length of the battle, I went ahead and took a look at the code. If there was a tie between Moon and Night, the battle would be postponed for the another game month. I went ahead and changed it so that if there is a tie, the champions destroy each other but Faethorn remains loyal to whomever it was last loyal to. Thus, if it was loyal to Moon, it will stay loyal to Moon in the event of a tie, etc. (If its neutral, it'll stay neutral.)

I think the reason it happened to last so long this last time was that no one was killing the other side's champions, so the quest was stuck at an indefinite stalemate. Anyway, it's been changed so it won't happen again. Just be aware that the advantage goes to the side Faethorn is pledged in the event of a tie.

Why not go neutral if there is a tie?

And Champions where dieing left and right on both sides, but it doesn't take that long to bring them back up. Especially if it takes longer than 3 hours since you generally have a new shift of players at that point. Unless you've had a Magnagoran char and stay up for 30 hours.

yeh here here on staying up for 30 hours straight. Hell i've even left my PC on with speakers turned up, so Daevos could get me on AIM to tell my ass to wake up and get on.....

Never again

Reminds me of my old "stay up for ~20 hours distorting gates on Ethereal" shifts from last time we had a war. Damn I'm glad that doesn't work anymore. >_<

As for that: Yeah, that should help. Wonder if that quest's being fixed soon pray.gif

Because it goes neutral if the opposite side wins so that would really be unbalanced (IMO).

Good point. It's now much harder to raise a champion.

I really think that will not fix anything about the Battle. I mean, yeah, we won't have a draw, and it will not postpone it, but that isn't going to help much I think. Half of Glomdoring is tired of it, even with help from Magnagora, we still lost. Oh, yes, we got Moon out of Faethorn, making it neutral, but then we still have to find the Spectre, right? Serenwilde knows how to get it, and it will take them less time to get it. Glomdoring, still doesn't know how to find it, and have to protect themselves from the contast attacks of Serenwilde who literally meet us at our front door.

The falconer, isn't he loyal to Faethorn? Half of Glomdoring who tries to get Faethorn under the will of Night is an enemy to Faethorn, so I would think he would attack us? And if not, what happens if Faethorn becomes under Night's will? We are still enemied to Faethorn, doesn't that hurt us also?

I just think there should be some other way to do this. Two different quests, one for each Commune. Not sure if that will solve anything, but perhaps it will change something?

The falconer may be loyal to Faethorn, but we have to get the damn bird right out of Glomdoring. (Also, it's Sceptre, not Spectre. Malicia confuses the hell out of me with that.)
Daganev2005-05-26 03:45:47
Even if Celest helped it would be the same result.

You just have to hope that the battle happens at the proper time of day for either seneriwlde or glomdoring because thats going to be the only factor in who wins I think.

Yes, but Glomdoring will not get defenses. You can kill our guards that stand at Ethereal Glomdoring's entrance in minutes. So, getting the bird is simple. (And I just realized I spelt Spectre, I know it is Sceptre. Bleh..)
Malicia2005-05-26 03:46:26
Yeah yeah.

I currently refuse to log in right now because I'm not in the mood to play a game with people who have no concept of a game, but Jasper, I hope you know what to do if the guards are getting killed.

Quite likely. Either you guys get raided by Tuek when only Syrienne's awake, or Daevos raids us while I'm the only one awake. :/

doh.gif You're acting like Glomdoring is the only one to be on the pointy of a stick.

Yeah, your side has to run around our side that has no totems. I feel for you guys and all your complaining.

Huh? no I was saying what Shiri repeated... my comment to JAsper was purely administrative.
Nyla2005-05-26 04:32:07
I think the main problem was that Glomdoring got Faethorn to neutral, but had no clue about the sceptre so many got frustrated.
Unknown2005-05-26 04:40:29
Can only the side that wins the battle get the sceptre pieces? Because Serenwilde did the entire quest and couldn't get a single piece of it.
Shiri2005-05-26 04:58:19
It's buggy. Albion, Selene and Luna are treating it like we won, and (reportedly) Maeve is treating it like it's neutral.
