Shiri, Glomdoring has killed plenty of people with wisp and flow, doesn't stop us from thinking its a lame way to fight.

Then it's just as well there's such a simple counter so you don't HAVE to fight that way.
Daganev2005-05-27 11:34:49
Its still the easiest method... stand still and wait for them to charge, then wisp

Only if you don't use the basic tactic of throwing a monolith into the next room before you move.
Daganev2005-05-27 11:43:19
lol... great imagry thanks.
If your using that tactic so much how come we keep wisping and killing you guys?

QUOTE(Nokraenom @ May 27 2005, 03:52 AM)
The repeated statements that Serenwilde must hate Magnagora due to the history of the Taint continues to confound me. Here's a relevant analogy:
You live in Japan. Japan has 3 cities that are different, yet still share the same overall philosophy (i.e., Communes). One day, the United States drops an atomic bomb on one of your beloved cities, destroying it utterly, and cutting off communication with a second. Your city is now alone.
Fast forward to present day. You now want to destroy all countries that possess nuclear weapons? Yes, Britain, China, India, Pakistan, North Korea, France and Russia are to blame, and must be utterly destroyed.
That is essentially the point of saying "We hate the Taint, Magnagora must be destroyed for having it." To me, that doesn't make a lot of sense. Should you mistrust Magnagora? Definately. Want to destroy it? Probably not. If anything, there is far more historical reason to hate Celest (as the city that actually destroyed Glomdoring and caused the loss of Ackleberry) than there is for Magnagora.

Shorlen *doesn't* hate the taint. He's even a follower of Lord Lacostian, who teaches that organizations and things are neither good nor evil - *people*, individuals, are. Now, Shorlen doesn't particularly like the taint itself, because it's ugly, and makes other things ugly with its touch. But he tolerates it, and honestly doesn't care what the cities do, as long as it doesn't effect him or the Fae. He doesn't hate Magnagorga. He hates Daevos, Murphy, Kaervas, Alger, and just about everyone else listed under COMMUNEENEMIES.
Why? Because they are tainted? No. Because they slaughter the Fae, because they raid the villages protected by the Seren, and because they kill his friends for absolutely no reason, even raiding his guildhall and invading the manses of his friends. The Moondancers as a whole have a 'no trading with the taint' policy - not because the Taint is evil or anything, but because Magnagora keeps raiding our guildhall. Our RP reason for hating Magnagora is that Magnagora repeatedly attacks us, because they can. The Serenwilde cares about survival first and foremost.
So, to 'change our RP' so we don't hate Magnagora anymore, I suppose we can all suddenly become masochists who love pain and dying, and worship those who hurt us. Or I suppose we can suddenly become all about peace and love and decide that, even though Magnagorans (especially their leaders) are big meenie heads, that's okay! we wub them anyway! ... but somehow, I can't see that as fun RP. If someone hits you, you hit them back. Harder. Until they do not hit you again.
It seems to me like there's a lot of you hitting someone, and they saying 'I hate you!,' and you saying to them, 'Why do you hate me, you should suck it up - you have no reason not to be my friend' (then you hit them again for good measure) - that all seems rather dumb to me.
Shiri2005-05-27 11:44:58
If you mean me personally, that's to be blamed on lag.
If you mean others - I haven't seen it happen a tonne, but I expect it can be attributed to the same thing, or something similar.

No offense but unless Shorlen is arguing these points to the rest of Serenwilde and having people win elections who share these points, its really mute what individual charachters think.
Daganev2005-05-27 11:48:41
the U.S.A and the USSR both hated eachother and wanted to kill eachother on every level. Do to a simple idea of mutual destruction they kept to a cold war.
Is it really so hard for serenwilde players to understand this concept?

I think it's a general belief amongst most Serenwilders. The thing is, no one cares about what Serenwilders think, they just care about what they think Serenwilde itself thinks. As has been said many, many times - the actions of one or two people do not embody the beliefs of the entire commune.
Unknown2005-05-27 11:57:07
Shiri, do you seriously think we haven't thought of using flamed monoliths?
It's a ridiculous way to attempt things, the cost is astronomical. It's an unreliable money pit.

Its called accountability... its what your leaders are for.
When Visaeris attacks peole in ways we don't like, he gets disfavoured and yelled, especially by me.
How many times has Munsia been kicked out of serenwilde? Its ridiculous.
Gergori even got revoted in when from what I heard in the chatroom, his opponent was running on a no war platform.
So don't tell me serenwilde doesn't want constant fighting.

His opponent wasn't voted in because she was a horrible leader, or so everyone I talked to (and I) thought.
Daganev2005-05-27 12:06:17
So not only is serenewilde full of victims who are forced by some amorpheous game mechanic, but they also lack any leaders who want peace.

The taint is a crutch for the weak. It is foul and atrocious and has no place within the Glomdoring. All who seek to further the taint have no place within the Blacktalon.

I have yet to be killed by someone wisping me, even while running around Faethorn, Prime Glomdoring, and Ethereal Glomdoring. It's not really as scary as it's made out to be. Monoliths are your friend.
