I think ectoplasm should maybe be targetable. If it's targeted to one person, it costs no power, and otherwise costs 3.

That's probably reasonable..but I still don't think we should get one downgrade after another untill nothing is left, which seems to be the trend.

Downgrading us into oblivion while upgrading everyone else like what happened in the envoy changes really isn't gonna change politics, it's just causing more and more frustration, let's hope the divine know that dry.gif .

It is one of those abilities which can really be lame though, the way Tuek or whoever described it being whored.

You know what else is cheap? Attacking ethereal Glom to try and keep us from getting totems set up. My heart goes out to you guys over having to buy more cleanse.

Maybe if you guys didn't, y'know...raid Faethorn constantly...with and without Magnagorans...killing not only neutral Fae which could be regarded as VAGUELY acceptable but Fae Knights which call out for help on Seren CT and have no positive effect on either your power or your economy in the short or long term...and kill all the Seren in the region...I might be more inclined to listen to you complain. Come to think of it though, when we attack Ethereal Glomdoring I've never chopped down a sapling or seen anyone else do it, we just kill Fae and Daughters of Night that you guys got by killing Faethorn or Seren (yes, it has happened) Fae back.

If WE had a whorable skill like that (and abused it, which besides Laysus and Narsrim I haven't heard reports of) which resulted in basically having to permanently cure, for an entire army, even if it WAS in a mostly sucky skillset (which nonetheless has two of the better abilities in the game, but I will admit most of the rest sucks) you'd definitely be one for complaining. After all, we got flow, and that is -awesome- in team fights. (Then again, so have you, so that's probably why you don't complain about it. dry.gif)

It's a skill issue, not a political issue.

I did feel sorry for you that you died that one time though. I was randomly returning Fae to the well and sylph ticked at exactly the wrong time for you. :/

Twisting pathway into the tainted mists.
A sigil in the shape of a small, rectangular monolith is on the ground. A
willowisp bobs about in the air here. A massive eagle perches here, silently
preening its midnight-black plumage. Crackling with blue lightning, the
Handmaiden of Shakiniel hovers in the air here. A magnificent white unicorn
stands here in silence, illuminating her surroundings with a gentle silver
glow. Limned with holy fire, a celestial archangel stands loftily on a floating
cloud, regarding you with her sympathetic eyes of light. A wall of briars has
grown here in a tangle, blocking passage to the south. A brown stag wanders
about here, its head held regally. A royal knight of Faethorn stands here at
the ready. Panginoong Bakulao Coldheart is here, shrouded. He wields a mystic
cudgel in his left hand and a tree-emblazoned heater shield in his right.
Ashteru, of the Wilde is here. He wields a mystic cudgel in his left hand.
Dreamer of Dioni, Cronnacht an-Fhiech, Moondance Shaman is here. He wields a
key in his left hand and an athame dagger in his right. Lanista Malicia
La'Saet, Sunaj Blade is here, shrouded.

And right after that we went north and got like 8 kills on your side. What's your point?

I don't think you can whine about Ectoplasam, when it was already nefed like Alger said. In my opinion, it is fine.

You mean upgraded. The only change to Ectoplasm was that it could target all enemies, not everyone. How is that a downgrade, especially in team fighting?

And for whomever said that the eq should be reduced for Ecto, you've obviously never fought against someone that whores it before. Murphy did it 5 times in a row, faster than I could cleanse and I have a level +1 eq, seriously, how fast do you freaking need it to be?

This is not about downgrading Necromancy anymore than it is, it is about combat balance. I agree that some of your skills were too powerful, and they have in turns been downgraded. Lich no longer gives Grace, ghost has a long eq associated, Contagion is no longer insanely powerful. The rests of the other downgrades I don't entirely agree with, but it's not in my powers to affect it anyway. Ectoplasm whoring is very possible, and incredibly lame. Attach the power cost for targetting everyone in the room, and I'd have nothing else to talk about. But when someone can whore it 25 times in a row just to drain my cleanse enchantment out, then I seriously think it is a problem that needs looking into.
Bricriu2005-05-25 19:38:35
Ectoplasm was actually downgraded - in that before, it wouldn't eventually go away on its own. It stuck, until you washed it off.
Bricriu2005-05-25 19:40:56
On a further note - yes, whoring a skill is lame. It's incredibly more lame when you have a wide variety of other skills to back you up though. I don't like the fact Ectoplasm was 'whored', but considering how few other options there are, I don't blame her for using it when ordered to do so.

It's not like she was fully healed and regained balance/eq after using ectoplasm, after all. (Just for a touch of my usual bitchyness.)

I really hope you don't think thats what the situation is from an ooc point of view...
Shiri2005-05-26 02:22:19
Quote the part of that that you think isn't how it is. (I'll take for granted that it's not the "skill issue" part because you don't really know how these things work, I suspect.)
Yuniko2005-05-26 04:06:09
Those that say Necromancy is the worst skillset, really hasn't pulled out the full potential from necromancy. Though I will say that necromancy is much more useful for Nihilists, there are many other necromancy skills out there that I've never seen anybody use.

And ectoplasm being a room attack is pretty stupid. It should at least be targettable, or hit -everyone- in the room, allies and foes alike, not just enemies/declared folks.

EDIT: Don't post skillsets on the forums. ~Shiri~
Terenas2005-05-26 04:32:56
thumup.gif Yuniko.

Thank god there are some Necromancer left that can still see their skills objectively before going around calling foul to any possible attempts for combat balance.

Drain slowly saps 1% per use tongue.gif.
Terenas2005-05-26 04:42:09
I hate that skill, damn Alger used it at least 20 times against me in the arena before and there is no counter whatsoever. Anyway, this is about Ectoplasm and how unbelievably unbalancing it is for team fighting. At least it used to force Necromancers to think twice about using it for fear of hitting their own allies, now they can whore it like no tomorrow just because they can.

I can see Drain being a pain in the ass in team-fighting where you're busy with multiple targets...but 1v1 just kill the bugger biggrin.gif.
Shiri2005-05-26 04:47:20
No, in team fighting I wouldn't say draining 1% per eq is any good, that's definitely a solo skill for pissing someone off if you can tank them.

Get 20 people to do it at once and you'll change your mind tongue.gif. But yeah, you're right about the solo thing.
Shiri2005-05-26 04:50:59
Oh I see what you mean. *was taking that to mean one person would do it to piss people off while everyone else fought* That works.
