I have never stated that Necromancy wasn't nerfed badly, especially after Putrefaction. What erks me most is rather that some people are lumping both good and bad Necromancy skills together and calling the skillset extremely weak and using that as the basis to refuse to take a look at combat balance issues. Necromancy was by far one of the most powerful specializations back when, but as others got upgraded it doesn't shine as it once was. But a number of your useful abilities have not been touched, Omen, Ectoplasm, Feed, and Lichdom (some would argue that it is inferior to before, but at least you have less penalty in the daytime).

First, I wasn't aware of the no-posting-skills rule, err, sorry...
Second, I didn't post what they did..sort of..
Third, I'm pretty sure you know I'm going off of what I would have had to deal with had I been there for the changes Bric, sorry if it erks you.
Fourth--just letting you all know, that was my opinion up there, not stating what it should be...
Fifth--sorry if anyone else gets erked with what I posted

Just to say.. the Tarot upgrades aren't much. Starleaper, great ya. World, great.
Warrior? Base 100 damage? In the world of 6k maxhealth, that isn't what we needed.
Fall? Still broken.
I don't really mind it, but... don't get excited about them, Bricriu.

Bricriu, not a single tarot was fixed, let alone upgraded..
WORLD: Lisaera said it's supposed to enable all tarot cards to flung at anyone unshielded, outdoors and in the local area, which it doesn't, only a few cards can be flung. The problem wasn't the length, the problem was that no cards but hangedman and aeon could be used over it, not even moon or lust.
STARLEAPER: Is still set off by both putrefaction and stigmata, rendering the card useless for both celestines and nihilists. Not to mention it'll teleport you straight into a statue on enemy territory.
WARRIOR: Still does the same amount of damage, which ranges from 20 to 70 actual damage per fling.
FALL: Is still bugged as it creates rubble towards one or two exits over and over, and completely ignores all the other exits, leaving them open.
The tarot changes did literally -nothing-. We don't even need upgrades, just the bugs fixed, apparently even that is too much to ask, which Hajamin's comments on the envoy boards illustrated quite effectively.

As I told you on the envoy board, not a single one was a bug. With the exeption of self-damaging skills setting off starleaper.

If I notice something that doesn't work, and a divine confirms that it's bugged, and then you come tell me it's supposed to be bugged, I'm finding it hard to just believe that.

There are three coders, if one of THEM say it's bugged, it's bugged.
Shiri2005-05-26 13:04:04
Doesn't Lisaera code? I remember in the early days of the IRC channel our talking about a bug where you couldn't drop things in a room because you'd receive a message about their being too many, and her saying she'd fixed it.
Hajamin2005-05-26 13:05:30
No, Lisaerea does not code. Estarra, Roark and I code.
Ceres2005-05-26 13:31:39
Roark, Estarra and I, you mean.
Nayl2005-05-26 14:44:36
Ceres left, and is -still- griefing.

I didn't fix that, I got it fixed.
We have a couple of other coders too, never fear!

Oh, right, sorry.
BTW: Would people be happy if ectoplasm worked like contagion, in teams? Just throwing the idea out.
Thorgal2005-05-26 18:30:33
Didn't Lisaera like, design half or more of all Lusternia's unique skills though?

QUOTE(Murphy @ May 25 2005, 08:28 AM)
Ahem.
Tuek is right on this one, having it distinguish between enemies and allies is a bad idea, as was contagion. It should hit EVERYONE who is in the room off prime, and only work on declared people on prime.
This would make it more balanced. I personally see ectoplasm as my form of vines in spars where your enchantment doesn't run out.
As far as team v team goes, nothing is cheap. There isn't honour in team fights, it win at all costs (without abusing bugs)
Personally, I'd give my right nut to swap ectoplasm for aeon...I can think of so many better uses for it.

Pfft, no. Estarra's the fountainhead.
My creative ability = the creative ability of a wolverine.
*creative idea* GO FOR THE THROAT!

We all love your coding ablities, Lisaera!

My contributions tend to fall into the categories of:
-Areas that everyone hates (a certain city of taint ).
-Quests that everyone hates (I'm sure this one's obvious).
-Fae that everyone hates (do you have to complain about Black Shuck quite so much?).
-Skill changes that everyone hates (can't flow out of anything other than forests anymore, sorry Serenwilde!).
-New skills that everyone hates. (I tried so hard for the new Hexes skills to be called something else, honestly!)
-Mobs that everyone hates (hello garshades!).
-Games that everyone hates (you know you loved the hamsterhunts really!).
-Fight scenes that no one hates but everyone makes fun of (last two in the Viravain event).
-Bug fixes that no one notices.
