I think small things like longer or more customised death messages are what makes a MUD fun to play.

'The blah is too much for blah, who expires pitifully'.

Sick of that! Let's have some flashing lights and battle cries please.

wave.gif wave2.gif wave.gif all for one, and all for finishing moves!1

See, I even have Shiro's support!

...that "1" was a joke though, right? *nervous laughter at internet forum stereotype*

As dazzling beam of light travels from the heavens and down upon Malicia, filling her eyes with a eerie glow as she raises her swords above her head, the light bursting forth from her mouth in a silent scream. She leaps into the air, swords crossed, and comes down upon Amaru, rending him asunder.

I could see that potentially as a Paladin finishing move, not a Serenguard one. tongue.gif

But I have to agree, the general damage kill is really bland. At least kills like Moonburst (wub.gif), Judgment, Soulless, and Behead/Bashbrain are pretty nice. I'm against people being able to come up with their own finishing moves though, look at Warcries/Mottos, that's what happen when you let some people express their creativities.

Make it GR10+ like Achaean custom falcons. And give the envoy of the guild an actual job for the other 50 weeks of the year, make them have to approve the messages, since it's that sort of category.

Voila.
Terenas2005-05-26 17:22:51
I doubt we'd get the chance to anyway, but it's an interesting idea. It would suck for Rogues though.
Amaru2005-05-26 17:25:59
And make it so that IF someone notices a bad custom kill get through the system:

- That envoy is removed
- The guild is banned from approving them for (5 IC years) however long

That would put pressure on envoys to do their job well, and for the right people to get the job.

Edit: Lusternia isn't made for rogues!
Richter2005-05-26 17:58:22
You mean envoys would have to do something other than suggest skills? tongue.gif I love it!

Edit: And so what about rogues? The admins don't care, the system works around people in cities/communes.

Edit2: Neenjaed

I really do like the idea, congrats to Richter for thinking up something useful. tongue.gif

Nothing holy about rending someone asunder!
Unknown2005-05-26 19:46:02
Yes there is, just like bashing someones brain in happy.gif
Gwylifar2005-05-26 20:02:16
I guess mine would be feline graceful savagery, but I can't be bothered to actually write it since it's too hypothetical.

Magnagora= some dark finishing move

Celest= Holy

Serenwilde/Glomdoring= forestal kind o.o

The envoy should have the job of teaching the rest of the guild about their skills. It's saddening to see how many people don't have a grasp of what their skills do. And the envoy should be the person who knows your skills best.
