This is why I keep telling everyone to learn tumble as fast as they can..

There's nothing wrong with how Ethelon fought there, he just used his skills, and unlike most wiccas, he didn't even excessively whore anything. This is just how Lusternian combat works, to counter certain skills, you need certain skills, tumble in this case.

In all honesty. I saw nothing wrong with that fight. Wait, yes I did.
GET IGNITE.
Ta-da.
Ignite, barge. Easy

I see no problem with this fight either, choke is pretty fair as it affects all parties, hell Ethelon's choking got me killed earlier, so yea the doubled edged sword here.
Amaru2005-05-26 09:56:46
I have to say I don't like that at all.

But the fault lies with the ability, not its use.
Torak2005-05-26 10:17:44
I don't think the problem was Ethelon being lame and staying in choke, but with the constant attacks that follow such as fae that are not affected(IE constantly dropping insomnia+sleep enchant, paralysis)..there is many counters as a guardian or mage but warriors really are screwed and forced to tackle/barge due to the fact even on a good attack they can hit once add in someone who waits to smoke for rebound.

EDIT: No I was not calling you lame Ethelon, you used what you had and did it to its potential.
Amaru2005-05-26 10:22:56
It's like sap. Would be no problem with it - but the demesne keeps hitting while you're sapped, making it worse and worse.
Ethelon2005-05-26 13:17:08
I will mention I was nice (read tired and forgot) enough to not enemy him before the fight, or order my ents hosstile, I had to do all that once he came. So I really only had the choke up for the fight. Also, sorry about hte trample crap...I was so tired, when I saw that it didn't go off, my little head though, well, if I keep trying, maybe it will work again, let's see if it does!...then I fdigured out I was an idiot and just killed him. Sorry for my horrid spelling also last night, bleh

You love to trample, hell, you trampled me all the time when you were a celestian

Trample and aeon/choke is a deadly combination. Ethelon's trademark.
Unknown2005-05-26 13:26:23
Yes it is. doh.gif

Serves you right for jumping people hunting(you've pulled that on me).

Says you, Mr. Person-who-jumps-people-on-Astral. glare.gif

I'm all for changing/removing choke though. Warriors have it hard enough as it is.
Unknown2005-05-26 18:07:31
The trouble with sap and choke is all the passive effects that continue hitting enemies. As has been said already, warriors have zero passive effects. Moondancers and Shadowdancers have the most, I think, at least out of any demesne.

The choke could be balanced by making everyone, including entities, slower. The entities moving at normal speed is what gets people killed too easily, in this case. And, if leaving the room is your only option for surviving or "winning" the fight, it's not really the most balanced ability. Leaving isn't even always possible, when you're hit with so many afflictions or hindered in others ways, as happened here.
Thorgal2005-05-26 18:35:34
Choke is fine as it is, just learn tumble so you can get away if you get messed up. Guardians and mages have passive effects to help turn choke against the wicca, and warriors have tackle/charge/barge to get the wicca out of the choke.

The only thing hurtful about choke, is not having tumble.

That was true before. But all Warriors have a passive effects now, admittedly it costs them powers to put up. Paladins get Heretic/Infidel, ur'Guards get Contagion, and Serenguard gets Darkmoon or Stagcurse. It would be nice if we got a pet, but I'm not holding my breath for that.

umm... Heretic/infidel isn't passive effects.
Terenas2005-05-26 19:10:21
You cast it, and it keeps on hitting long afterward, freeing you up to continue attacking via other methods. Seem plenty passive to me.
Unknown2005-05-26 19:11:56
No... It doesn't keep attacking...
Terenas2005-05-26 19:13:46
huh.gif

Heretic/Infidel stops giving afflictions after you recovered eq, is that what you're saying? Or that you have to constantly cast it?
Unknown2005-05-26 19:14:39
You have to constantly cast heretic and infidel, for the afflictions to hit you.
Terenas2005-05-26 19:15:34
Is that why I keep getting afflicted even though I started running right after Heretic was cast?...Yeah.
