Now that we've done hexes update, I'm curious if people still feel they are inferior to... well all the other choices.
Shamarah2005-05-26 23:27:02
What were the changes, anyway?
Estarra2005-05-26 23:28:23
Well, I guess I'm asking those who have hexes!
Sylphas2005-05-26 23:29:34
The changes sound nice, but the names are utterly retarded.
Estarra2005-05-26 23:31:07
Heathen! The names were chosen by me and are absolutely perfect!
Daganev2005-05-26 23:32:04
I was going to refrain from coommenting on this thread but.... Do the new skill names come with a giant red button you have to push?
Estarra2005-05-26 23:43:16
The names were carefully chosen for their spot-on meaning and are superb characterizations for advanced hexes. Surely, you’ve seen old movies that correctly use the terms to describe a type of hex/curse that is a magic that is dark yet provincial. I despair at any person who doesn’t see it as I do.

Beautiful Hex Names...
Jasper2005-05-26 23:48:40
The first of the new ones... its name makes me cry.
Murphy2005-05-26 23:50:16
really glad you didn't implement swifthex, those damn guardians are overpowered as it is

I've said this before and I'll say it again. The equilibrium of throwing a drawn hex is the exact same speed as swiftcurse (or whatever that other skill is). Drawing and throwing a hex is the exact same speed as a regular curse (if we're comparing other realms). It has always been this way. For some of the naysayers, we took a look at the code, tested it, and sure enough it is just as I said.
Ethelon2005-05-27 00:01:47
The vapors change so far has not been noticible enough to offer anything. The two new special skills are to unreliable to use so far and I would rather use Allhex myself. Don't trust my word yet though, I haven't used them yet, nor do I think I will waste the time to unless I can think of a reason/situation to do so.
Unknown2005-05-27 00:01:57
The speed may be identical, but the realized speed is actually much slower. Sending two commands has a lag delay, and a reaction delay.
Whammy and Doublewhammy are interesting. In my opinion, Allhex and Doublewhammy should completely swap positions. Doublewhammy is as quick as a regular hexing, whereas allhex is not quite as useful, due to the fact that it has much longer equilibrium time. It also costs 10p for 6 afflictions with messages. With Doublewhammy I can almost hex out 6 afflictions in the time it takes me to regain equilibrium from allhex just about. (As a Mugwump that is)
I haven't tested it out to much in a combat situation, so I'll hold my opinions till then. And the change to vapors doesn't work, or perhaps I misunderstand, but it does not give any blackout on the initial toss.
Oh, and Murphy, Doublewhammy is far worse then the idea I had for not having to draw hexes for the next 30 seconds or so. You are crazy.
Edit: I agree with Ethelon on one thing, Doublewhammy is cumbersome to use. Drawing out two hexes, then trying to manipulate them with Doublewhammy is rather odd. Adding Whammy into my system to manage hexes was easy, but setting up my system to manage a doublewhammy is a bit more difficult.

Whammy:
1. A supernatural spell for subduing an adversary; a hex: put the whammy on someone.
Just thought that was funny. Taken from Dictionary.com

As soon as I heard the names, I said to myself, "it's a pity people don't really know what those words mean, because no one will take them seriously". But I didn't know the origin of the term. A little searching turned up a surprising answer.
Athana2005-05-27 01:12:08
Whammy...isnt that a wierd gameshow where people get stuff dumped on them when they lose?

I forgot to point out, the only Guardians that have hexes are Nihilists. You feel they are overpowered?
Sylphas2005-05-27 01:24:34
Why is DoubleWhammy hard to use? Does it only use the last two you drew or something? When I first heard of it, I assumed it'd be more like supersling.
