I wants it!

Implementing poker would make lusternia all I could ever want it to be, a great roleplaying experience, with my favorite card game to relax with... I would definately do whatever I could to support a movement to implement poker in lusternia... Texas hold'em of course, every other poker game isn't as widely played. If I gathered a lot of player support, gods, do you think you could spare some time for it?

Instead of a poker system all that needs to be implemented is a deck of cards system that each player can create in papercraft.

They had that in Orone and it was great, because some people would try to steal money from the pot without anyone noticing, and would quickly get thier arm chopped off by everybody.
Shryke2005-05-29 19:06:03
how exactly would you deal out poker... syntax like "deal 2 cards to players" -bets- "show 3 cards" -bets- "show 1 card" -bets- "show 1 card" -bets and then let whoever won take the gold from the middle? I guess it could work, but it would be vulnerable to someone come in and beat everyone down, or some dreamweaver come in and steal the money etc...

Just like real poker, eh?

I like the idea of an arts skill that lets you paint mundane cards. And a random shuffle feature. Then we can just go wild!

Anyway, yes, I agree with Fain.

*waits for the world to end*

There can't be any harm in at least giving Lusternia the chance to try it, since it is already coded. All we'd need is a place to buy the permits, and every city already has gambling houses.

Notice how it said Delosian and Lusternia in the same file? Hehe
Roark2005-05-29 22:20:55
Any one up for a game of Acknor Hold 'Em?
Richter2005-05-29 22:21:43
Yeah, we'd never get away with calling it Texas, heh.

Southguard Hi-Lo?
Elryn2005-05-30 00:30:15
Incidentally, if it was coded in Achaea, how many people became bookies?

And how many games were kept running on average?
Elryn2005-05-30 05:26:40
Nevermind, I went and had a look myself.

There's a whole lot of them.

A cheating system would be awesome to implement. biggrin.gif
Sylphas2005-05-30 07:40:14
If everyone could make their own deck, it would be easy. Though it'd be easy to check, if every card in a deck was given your mark. Then only the dealer could cheat, and if s/he did, they rest of you could just beat him/her down.

I must say, being able to craft a deck of playing cards, 3 wood for 52 cards, would be awesome. Then you could play whatever game you wanted, if there was a shuffle feature. And if I got bored, I could play solitaire somehow.

Actually, in recent months the bookie system in Achaea has gotten quite a bit of use. Its surprising for me to not hear of at least three or four books each time I log on. For those who know what they're doing, they've made quite a bit of money on them and its great fun for the people betting now that they've made it so you can place bets from anywhere in the world.

If Lusternia implemented bookies they would need to make sure betting could be done from anywhere or else the license wouldn't get any use at all.

Bookies, bleh.
Stangmar2005-06-03 07:10:42
Hell yeah, add the bookkeeping system to lusternia, with a permit price of 25K(Because i'm cheap) and i'll use it all the flippin time. We'll ALL have fun.
Unknown2005-06-03 08:48:46
I believe that the main problem with Bookies in Achaea was the fact that there was nothing worth betting on, sure the odd FFA but the main problem was in the fact that the Bookie had to pay if the player won, so if they bet 5K on a 2:1 bet, they'd have to pay out 10K from their own gold, not worth it really.
Unknown2005-06-03 10:19:09
What would you bet on? Races?
