Well, my first character is an Aslaran, and i was wonderin what guild goes best with the aslarans. Any tips or hints would be great thanks. )
Marcalo2005-05-29 02:52:24
aslaran are pretty much a decent all around race, they can go well with pretty much any guild/class
Unknown2005-05-29 02:57:57
well are they better with weaponry or magic?
Gwylifar2005-05-29 03:36:18
Since we're fairly smart and not quite as strong, maybe there's a small edge for mage classes, but now that blademaster changes have gone into place, blademaster is not that bad for an aslaran. Don't expect to be quite equal to even the nonspecialized races, let alone the specialized ones, particularly because of that sip penalty, but you should be able to do all right.

You'll have nice rune speed, and your magic won't completely suck as a mage/druid.
As a warrior you'll be fast but weak.
As a guardian, you'll have nice speed for tarot.
It can work with any of them, since you're int isn't through the floor, and most classes have some way to make good balance work for you.

Just be aware that, in this game, races aren't at all balanced (intentionally).

*peer* Apart from the three (six?), it shouldn't be intentionally.
Shorlen2005-05-29 04:41:33
*shrugs* It is obvious that certain races are better than others, and from the words and actions of the Admins, this certainly seems to be intentional. I mean, Orc'Lach and Krokani are just, in every way, worse than Dracnari and dwarf, at least as far as I can tell.

Aside from stats and all that, be sure to join the large Aslaran movement. Supposedly, they are doing a lot of racial roleplay, so that will always be fun to get on.

Yeah, Gwylifar's doing a great job with it
Anarias2005-05-29 05:38:15
Well damn, someone give me 100 credits to reincarnate so I can join Gwylifar's group
Thorgal2005-05-29 07:41:03
Meh, I wasn't invited.
Alger2005-05-29 08:47:33
thats okay thorgal we still have our silk
Gwylifar2005-05-29 15:06:37
Well, Exarius and I had a falling out, so you have a few days yet before I even found the new clan. But the next bardics should include a pretty good start on that.
I'm not the only one doing this... in fact, one of the things the new clan will focus on is making sure everyone's voice gets heard to encourage a more collaborative process.

Exarius2005-05-30 05:46:00
Pardon, but the falling out wasn't about my being unwilling to collaborate.
It was about Gwylifar demanding that aslaran sexuality be defined in purely bestial terms, and getting downright insulting when most of the women of the pride didn't want to be ruled by estrus cycles or eat their own afterbirth.
There were two women in my pride with seniority over him, and both flew into such an outrage that he would try to dictate their sexuality at all (much less define them as violently frigid 11 months a year, then indiscriminant sex machines for 1), that I could fairly hear them screaming over my modem.
Refusing to adopt the extrimist views of one player as biological facts that all racial players will be forced to deal with is not refusing to collaborate. It's showing backbone and leadership, looking out for the good of the whole over the vocal minority.
What truly distinguishes my pride from Gwylifar's pride-to-be: I see aslaran as sentients with feline qualities, Gwylifar sees aslaran as beasts with some sentient qualities.

you are no match for the ur'aslarans! We eat furrikins as part of our healthy diet and own all the silk for our rubbing needs.
Rakor2005-05-30 06:39:29
Alger, you make me want to go Aslaran, heh.
Alger2005-05-30 06:49:18
oh wait since they're talking about their prides i have to talk about my somewhere in the future pride...
Pride goal(s) :
- Show those noble viscantis who really runs Magnagora... great houses my ass.
- Get more assasination contracts from the great houses (and over-charge them for the trouble)
- Breed Furrikins
- Get more silk
- figure out how to turn a dog into a cat.
*note: we have the best roar

What exactly do you have against Furrikin anyway, damnit? *eye*
Alger2005-05-30 06:53:49
nothing... its just a healthy diet... like chickens, pigs and cows... some people like chicken, some people like beef... some people dont eat pork at all... but i say they all have too much fat, so furrikins the way to go. I bet those seren aslarans are vegitarians.
