When Gerald references firepower, he's also talking about availability.

Not exactly. When I say firepower, I'm talking about commandos armed with 20 extra clips and 5 grenades. Magnagora had quite a few of these commandos. Celest had drafted kids fresh out of high school. The manpower (the availability of people) was about the same, a little bit tipped to Magnagora's favor. But the substantial difference was present in the firepower. Example:

Magnagora had 10 commandos and 2 regular soldiers.
Celest had 1 demigod, 2 commandos and 8 regular soldiers.

That's the difference. 1 demigod != 10 commandos, unfortunately.

But no matter how much skill you have, if you have no credits, you won't be able to fight your way out of a paper bag.

Very true. Even if the person is a seasoned veteran and knows what he or she is doing, you can't kill other players without the skills necessary. You can have the best curing system in the world and have the best strategies, but if you don't have something that hinders your opponent, you're screwed. This translates to *gasp* credits!! biggrin.gif
Torak2005-05-31 19:07:19
Once again I disagree, but yes without atleast one trans skill you are screwed.
Daganev2005-05-31 19:24:18
But torak you only get 150 credits worth of lessons without buying credits. tongue.gif

Not to completely nerf the Geomancers "influence" ability in their demesne, instead make demesnes limitted to a few rooms when a village is uninfluenced.
Daganev2005-05-31 19:42:56
If you did not allow demenses during influencing you would have to replace a few druid skills.
Bau2005-05-31 22:28:25
Not if people who can summon them aren't around when they need to be summoned. Now, excuse me, but they left before the village could be guarded, which left.... me. According to Tuek, either Arilyon or I are abusing some bug concerning our guards, but since he fails to tell me, I have zero idea and am wary about doing anything with the guards.

But that's why I suggested not being able to attack a newly influenced village, it would be a tremendous help. Honestly, it's a wonder the poor villages revolt if this is all they can expect.

On a different note..... do denizens already influenced have to take eq away when you try to influence...? I mean, they don't take ego (though it does take a small amount of willpower...) And what they say really doesn't make sense to others from the place which already has them influenced.

You pull a krokani villagewoman aside and engage her in a discussion on the
great mysteries of Glomdoring, weaving the conversation into a complex intrigue
of how her village has always been indebted to the dark forest.
A krokani villagewoman says, "Actually, I am seriously considering the
Glomdoring Forest, but I need time to think it over. Perhaps we can talk about
it later?"

You are recovering equilibrium and cannot move yet.

"Perhaps we can talk about it later?" Should say something like, "Actually, I am already considering it, thank you." You get the idea.

And for a laugh...
Smiling encouragingly, you prompt a krokani shepherd to tell you of his hopes
and fears, then relate how all his hopes can be found in Glomdoring, and all
his fears would be realized elsewhere.
A krokani shepherd says, "Yes, I agree. That's why I already follow the
Glomdoring Forest, you dunce."

Well, pending. A mage with trans aqua, or Geomancy could drop any class easy if you ask me regardless of what other skills they had. As long as you have atleast one trans skill and a few more higher leveled ones you should be fine.

I beg to differ wink.gif

I'm guessing the bug(?) would be that you've had a stack of elementals sit around and attack, when they shouldn't. Or that's what I hear on the forums. I think I heard Estarra or someone say that's not a bug, just stupid, but since our elementals don't do jack when I sit there and cudgel them while they're not infused, it's a misweave on one of the ends.
Alger2005-06-01 02:54:32
I honestly think there should be away to break sanctuary. Being able to hold rooms indefinitely is just wrong especially since placement can be important. Id rather see something like keeping campaigns up have an ego upkeep. So if they get debated out they cant campaign or hold/maintain campaigns.
Bau2005-06-01 03:50:43
I had half a dozen or more swarms at the nexus on the test server, and they were doing Sierus 1200 damage every 2 seconds, so he reckons. (after I ostracizd and enemied him, of course)

Ours work!
Sylphas2005-06-01 05:11:32
But they're also insanely easy to kill. I could tank that damage, as a mage, and pick them off one by one with burrowing.

So either ours are broken, or yours are bugged.

I don't understand how people still say they're bugged, when Estarra already said it isn't a bug, just strategically retarded. I'm sorry yours are broken or not working so as to allow you to make strategic mistakes, but continuing to suggest it is a bug doesn't make any sense.
Sylphas2005-06-01 05:24:10
Because that seems totally against how they're supposed to work. *shrug* So it's not a bug, ours are broken then.
Daganev2005-06-01 06:06:39
The Demense skills I was refering to where the ones that make you better at influencing and regen ego tongue.gif
Sylphas2005-06-01 06:23:32
Demesne regens ego?
Shiri2005-06-01 06:27:26
No. Daganev has his facts wrong, again. tongue.gif

(He might be talking about Trueheart. I'm not sure how that works. sleep.gif)
Elryn2005-06-01 06:38:18
Trueheart doesn't regen ego, just increases your influence effect.
Shoshana2005-06-01 06:56:52
Estarra said that elementals are insanely easy to kill unless they're infused, so it's stupid to have large amounts of them uninfused, if I remember correctly... So ours aren't bugged, they're just not meant to be used as normal guards.

I could have sworm someone was talking about how nice it was that thier demense regened thier ego.
Elryn2005-06-01 07:03:27
Nope. Unless you mean Sun totem?
