Input Triggers

So I've been looking into replacing my huge alias lists with simple input triggers, and it's been working wonderfully. For example, I used to have dhex to draw a hex, using a two letter abbreviation. I had to have one alias for each hex, which gives me a list of about thirty. Today, I switched that to an input trigger, like this: #ONIN {^d({@hexes1})$} {draw hex @hexes2.%1}, where @hexes1 is a list of the abbreviations, and @hexes2 is a database variable with those abbreviations linked to their full hex name. Much simpler, and a lot more elegant.

I'm going to be doing the same for my runes, and it'll make on-the-fly supersling combos much simpler.
Daganev2005-06-01 06:08:37
I wonder if I can do that for my attacking combos.
Nayl2005-06-01 07:16:16
Probably.
If your dedicated (or you pay your wife kiss.gif)
You (or I), might be able to design a system where you can go
hit gh r
hit gl l
and it would do bash down, bash up (respectively, g=gut, h=head, l=legs), or hit ll, etc.
Infact, I could probably make an alias to do it all. Yay if's happy.gif

I find it just so much easier to use the numpad as attacking macros for each separate limbs, but that's just me.
Ekard2005-06-02 11:50:56
Yea, using macros is much faster!
Sylphas2005-06-02 16:12:05
Yeah, but knights have it easy. You can get by with like 10 macros. Try macroing supersling combos, and tell me where you put the second and third dozens.

I've always been a fan of string lists. I had one macro for all of my runes, and aliases to change which ones are thrown. Then I hit the macro and it throws the first set, the next set the next time I hit it, etc.

Uh, how many supersling combos are actually useful? When I was a Mage, I barely used over 10 types of runes. The rest were either not useful for me (ur, nyd) or only useful in special circumstances (daeg, rad). Almost all my runes were in the macros F5 through F12, and occasionally I used the NumPad for other spells. Better to have your system as simplified as possible, I didn't bother remembering half the runes at times. wacko.gif
Sylphas2005-06-02 17:20:01
So far, with the useful ones, I've filled F5 to F12, then CTRL-F5 to CTRL-F8. F5 is cen/gyfu, F6-F8 are pennyroyal stacks, F9-F10 is coltsfoot, F11-F12 is reishi. CTRL are speciality things like cen/manna.

This way, though, it's almost as fast, I don't have to remember how I've mapped all the damn macros, and I can pull up any combo at will.
Terenas2005-06-02 17:23:22
unsure.gif I've never even thought about using Ctrl or Shift in combination with the F keys, might be too much of a hassle to find them in the middle of fighting. Better to just use an alias for those little things, but that's just me.
Sylphas2005-06-02 21:33:59
*shrug* I much prefer aliases anyway, since I can add options to them that I can't get with macros, and because it keeps my fingers close to everything; moving to get at my macros and moving back to use other aliases is a pain.

Here is my dreamlist of attack combos. The reason I suck at fighting is becuase do to the overwhelming nature of my dream, all I have is a K alias which does one random jab and one random swing.

Left arm Jab
Right arm jab
Left and Right arm Jab
Left side Smash
Right side Smagh
Left and Right side Smash
Head jab
Head smite
Head and Legs Smite
Leg Smite
Head and Gut Jab
Head and Chest Jab
Left Leg Jab
Right Leg JAb
Left and Right leg jab
Left side legs swing
right side legs swing
Left and Ride legs swing
Gut Jab
Chest Jab

Then, all the JAB combos with the Crush option.
Pulp head
Pulp chest
Pulp gut
Pulp (random leg)
Pulp (random arm)

I think thats a bit more than the 9 options on my keypad.

EDIT: Ooooh it totals 36.. 36 is a cool mystical number for me...
Sylphas2005-06-03 04:12:52
I'll make up something for you quick, when I get a second, won't be hard.

EDIT: Gimme the AB KNIGHTHOOD BASH(I think) diagram?

Exactly. And the CTRL key in my keyboard is in a frickin' obnoxious place. Maybe if I didn't have to cure most things manually.

The best setup I've ever come up with was for a monk in another IRE game, I used modes (toggled with ALT+Q/W/E/A/S/D) which determined what moves I sent with ALT+Keyboard. Sounds as if it would fit your wet dream, Daganev.
Unknown2005-06-03 13:49:18
I use my keypad for warrior attacks and I have different sets of commands for the keypad. Numbers alone are directions, of course. Alt+Num is for targetted strikes to specific body parts. Ctrl+Num is for squinting. Ctrl+Alt+Num is for bashing body areas. I actually use Alt+Num in different modes and then cycle through them with my F9 key: sprinting, swimming, striking.
Daganev2005-06-07 06:25:46
problem with the numpad idea is that my laptop doesn't have a numpad, otherwise I would be using that... here is the BASHIN diagram.

Syntax: SMITE UP - Hits the gut and legs
SMITE DOWN - Hits the head and chest
BASH - Hits the arms, chest, and gut
POUND - Hits the chest, gut, and arm
SMASH - Hits the leg, gut, and chest

Daga, hold the function key, then look for the small numbers on the 789-uio-jkl keys, it's where mine are on the laptop.

Or buy yourself a USB numpad. $20 or less.
Ceres2005-06-13 08:52:48
Hehe. As an Aquamancer, I used gyfu/cen and gyfu/ger.

And manna/cen.

That's it

You also hit for 2k with your staff. When you cudgel for 400, you need more runes.
