hmmm we're kinda missing like crazy... anything related to that was touched? Or are we just really unlucky for some reason? hmm...

There's not been a whole lot of feedback on missing, so I've assumed it's not too far off.
Gwylifar2005-06-03 13:45:08
I know I was missing a lot more during my tests, but that was against shadowlord faelings. (Everyone in the test server while I was there was a shadowlord faeling.)
Icarus2005-06-03 13:50:08
Actually, we did miss/dodge like crazy on the test server from day one. Or at least I did. But the formula was being changed almost daily so I decided to wait to test the latest changes before commenting.
I did post about the hit-rate in my fight with Visaeris, which were 50% for dracnari and 75% for shadowlord. I believed Visaeris also posted a log in the deleted thread on misses/dodges.
Crush and Lunge also miss now, but I am not sure whether that is intentional or not.

Lunge and crush are 100% accurate again, I thought.
Roark2005-06-03 16:21:13
There is a huge difference between a warrior missing and an opponent dodging. I put debug text in to make it obvious as to which one happened. If you are complaining about not hitting, it needs to be explicit as to which of the two, or both, is the source of the problem.
Terenas2005-06-03 16:44:01
Does it matter as to it was dodging or missing? It still results in Knights not being able to hit the target.
Another thing that I think should be addressed is dodging while proned, there are times when I've been knocked down and still managed to avoid another swing.

It matters because they are two totally different things. If the problem is dodging but a change is made to hitting then nothing actually got fixed.
Gwylifar2005-06-03 18:23:17
Right, I should have said, I was being dodged about half the time.
Alger2005-06-03 20:05:19
People were dodging me a lot too and i was pretty sure the area I was hitting wasnt stanced. Ill go over some of my logs.

Are the knight changes going in after the test server comes down?

No. I'm going to be busy with RL stuff (parties and so forth) for the next couple of days, and I'd rather not release it until I have more spare time to babysit it. So give it a few days. Plus there are a few additional things I want to do with it.
Unknown2005-06-03 23:34:42
Just curious, but, could you clarify a bit what effect DEX has on dodging now, with what you think will be the latest changes? As in, will there be a noticable difference between a Faeling dodging and an Elfen, for example? Or is that one of the things that was completely yoinked from the equation?

Dodging will be about the same. It may actually be slightly better, though it's hard to tell. The main change with DEX is that it will give some help to wounding (though STR is still much more important).
Shiri2005-06-03 23:53:04
Doh. I hope it is SLIGHTLY better. With all these knight upgrades, mahhh, I'm not going to survive 30 seconds. :/
Unknown2005-06-04 00:02:56
Yeah.. I hope for the slightly better.. cause... its no fun to be completely splatted against the wall.. i mean.. our lack of constitution/int means we should be easily damage-killed by mages and guardians, ok, cool.. but our high dex means we should be able to dodge to an extent that we can last somehwat as long with a Knight as a Tae'dae could. That's just my opinion of course, but I do think that Dex for Con should be SOMEWHAT more of an even trade compared to what it is.. I mean.. yeah.. its just kinda sad that we get the lower CON -because- of our high DEX.. but the high DEX doesn't really do anything unless we trans Combat. (at least, I -think- DEX has a noticable difference between 2 trans combat people, right?)

More INT can compensate for less CON when you are a knight, and personally I like the idea of a small faeling having more reliance on INT than CON.
Shiri2005-06-04 00:43:15
Not if he's a Hartstone, though. It's not only warriors that are getting affected by this. The Faelings and so on with high DEX that got pounded on by knights before might have a chance to get something useful now. :/

Does this mean regular faelings are supposed to make reasonable knights?
Icarus2005-06-04 01:15:25
I fought Alger as a non-specialised faeling ur'guard on the test server and he killed me (dracnari serenguard) a few times easily, due to the level 3 faster balance and me missing (or him dodging) 3 out of 4 swings.
When he switched back to Aslaran, I had a much easier time and actually lasted until it was declared a draw. So yeah, I think non-specialised faelings have a fair chance of being a good warrior, as things stand on the test server anyway, although shadowlords still pretty much own everyone else.

Only one way to find out. Really the only change that makes a normal faeling a better wariror is that high DEX will make you wound a little better than before, though STR still plays the vast majority of it. I don't consider that a major change from what it used to be. (The main change is regarding the precision weapon stat and to-hit.) I do wonder, though, that with the speed bonus then perhaps a regular faeling always could have made a viable warrior, but it wasn't ever really tried due to it not being obvious. You hit for a small amount, but you hit often enough that damage per second might not be bad. (I don't know for sure since I've never experimented with a normal faeling.) In addition, the low CON can be made up with via the surge spell. Has anyone ever actually tried playing a normal faeling as a warrior? Now that I've done more testing with the different races this past week I was actually wondering if they always were a viable warrior race, like that tiny little faerie poking you over and over like a mosquito so fast that your wounds add up faster than you can handle.
