I know that, but it's better than an unspecialized faeling, and we have plenty of those. And yellow and con food give you 10 con, which isn't all that bad.
Thorgal2005-06-04 20:57:08
Another point for shadowlord faeling, if they take night, they get an awesome additional damage source, nightkiss does a hefty amount of unblockable asphyxiation damage, and is NOT based on intelligence, so the shadowlord faeling with their relatively low intelligence, really do make the best warriors in the game.

Thankfully Estarra is going to be looking at races in general, but as far as Tae'dae go, if you hit very hard and are known for hitting hard, nobody is going to stay in the room long enough for you to kill them, unless you are fast enough to hinder them.
I know I will be very upset if I have to not be a tae'dae just so I can be on par with other warriors.

I didn't really get a chance to test this all out on the Test Server, but now that the Knighthood changes are in place I have noticed I am missing a lot more than I was previously.
I haven't had a chance to test this in a PvP situation, but just in bashing. Missing a denizen (such as astral goats or bulls for example) used to be extremely rare for me. I am trans combat and blademaster and the to-hit on my broadswords was in the 160's or 170s with forging runes.
I remember reading something saying that Knights should miss a set amount, being between 90%-100% of the time. What determines this percentage? As far as I know I've got everything that counts towards connecting with my opponent and I am hitting around 92/93% of the time.
I can only imagine that in combat with someone of high dex I'd have a fair bit of trouble. Some people I've spoken to say they now miss less since the changes, I definitely miss more.

Yeah, those with trans combat notice they miss a little more, and those without trans combat notice they miss less. Since combat doesn't affect chance to hit anymore.

I understand that, but it feels like a lot more :/

yeah just earlier i failed to connect with icarus 8 times out of 10 strikes and he wasnt even stancing... a bit frustrating.

While Malicia just hit me 12 times out of 13, when I wasn't stancing, and then 10 out of 11 when I was stanced and parrying. :/

Were you stancing and parrying to protect a particular limb and have Malicia trying to hit you on that limb? Before the changes, stancing to protect one body part (like stance head or gut, not upper // middle etc) pretty much keep that limb safe.
When I was sparring Alger, I was using combatstyle defensive, which is probably the cause of the low hit rate.
Thorgal2005-06-08 16:08:32
Combatstyle defensive makes stances about 4 times as effective.
Terenas2005-06-08 16:33:51
You have any numbers? I know it's awesome against hard hitters, and speed knights nowaday, but I'm not so sure if it's 4 times as effective.
Thorgal2005-06-08 17:04:49
Since I'm not a knight, I don't have numbers, I just know it's nearly impossible for a knight to hit someone stanced in defensive combatstyle.
Though missing doesn't matter much anymore, since you regain balance from a missed hit twice as fast.

Really? They implemented this? Woot! My idea!
Manjanaia2005-06-08 19:35:34
I'd say that is unrealistic but good for the game. It takes more energy to swing and miss then it does to swing and hit. But that wouldn't be balanced.
Revan2005-06-08 19:50:46
Earlier, I was fighting Icarus. He was trying to hit me, I parried about 6 attacks in a row. I had my wounds at 100 (green, full, whatever), and then he just brainbashed me. I was just flabberghasted =/
Manjanaia2005-06-08 19:54:56
that's insane!
Terenas2005-06-08 20:49:29
That's something I had wanted to be brought up, concussion and bashbrain doable with crush. It's virtually unblockable, even if you were parrying your head, he could still have done it, it's highly annoying.
Daganev2005-06-08 21:27:54
About the missing thing,
Depending on how badly you miss and what type of miss you do, it takes longer to recover from the shock of hitting than it does to move your hand back to attack again.
For example, once you hit the person, you have to pull your hand back to your striking position to hit again, however if you miss, you can continue your swing and then swing backwards so it would take half the time. Assuming you didn't miss so bad you lose your balance.

Yes. I was stanced legs, and parry rleg 100, and she missed me once (she was only attacking my right leg). She said she's posting the log later. It was scary. Theoretically she could behead in THREE SWINGS. Or one lunge...
Alger2005-06-08 22:29:25
yeah icarus was on cs defensive, but he had no stance though which makes it weird. I dont think it matters if you're on defensive if you dont have a stance to make effective. No stance and i still missed like crazy.
