A slaugh strokes a cold, beautiful finger across your cheek, and a cold sweat
breaks out upon your brow.
A banshee bound in shadows stares at you, then suddenly emits a high-pitched
screech at you. The soundwaves pierce into your very being, weakening you in
both body and mind.
A pixie bound in shadows slashes you viciously.
A redcap slashes you with a thin razor, causing blood to spurt from the wound,
which he soaks up with his little cap.
Black Shuck, the Darkhound batters you with an overhead blow.

Ridiculous I tell you, ridiculous!

I don't know who thought Moondancers were overpowered, I don't think anyone's that stupid. The only objection was that we weren't as underpowered as we said.
That said, to be fair, that ridiculous stuff is entirely the fault of the dog. The other Fae altogether may be nasty but they don't do ridiculous damage.
EDIT: Wait, I forgot about Visaeris, but everyone knows he doesn't count.

That's not overpowered until you can't heal under choke.
Gwylifar2005-06-05 04:43:57
Even without choke, that's passive damage that exceeds the active damage most people are able to do.
Choke is the worst idea ever to be brought into Lusternia, and pretty much everyone seems to agree except for a few of the people who use it, and not even all of them.

Uhh, not every shadowdancer has Black Shuck, since it's the champion's artifact. Just like not every moondancer has Patchou in his entourage.
Amaru2005-06-05 09:29:08
I completely agree with Singollo here. At one time on Ethereal, I had three sets of shadow fae attacking me and the resulting damage and afflictions was enough to take me to almost dead in a matter of seconds. When there are multiple redcaps tuned on a person, they can start to bleed for 1000+ damage, which makes me think maybe some things were overlooked in their design.
Thorgal2005-06-05 09:39:47
If you have various sets of moondancer fae on you, you're pretty much history too.
If you have multiple sets of the healing moondancer fae on you, you're invincible.

Not really. Brownie, pixie, crone and banshee are not lethal even in groups. Add barghest, redcap and slaugh (and take out Crone) and you're rather buggered though.
And the healing moondancer fae don't stack, or didn't when we last tested it, so the latter thing isn't even remotely true.

Black Shuck doing that default attack is actually a bug, I designed his attacks and that isn't one of them. I'll have to look into why it happened.
Thorgal2005-06-05 11:17:50
Same happens with Grim.
Ethelon2005-06-05 11:18:06
Great, that was the onlything he had going for him, he by far is the worst Champion pet...maybe get rid of the damage and give him real attacks?
Unknown2005-06-05 11:18:11
Patchou does that sometimes too, under weird occasions, and I understood it to be a bug. I can't remember what caused it though, it was doing it to Malicia(?) I think. It stops doing all other affects, and just does a regular default damage attack. Maybe it was when I left her passive, but just had someone enemied, or something.
Anyway, though, take a look at the Handmaiden, it does 600-700 damage as one of it's regular attacks. Poor Black Shuck, Nil Grim Horror, Patchou. I'm not quite sure why the Handmaiden is so ridiculously powerful compared to them.

What does the Black Shuck do again?
Ethelon2005-06-05 11:19:35
Handmaiden is byfar the best, all of her attacks are good.

Pixies and brownies do the exact same thing too. I have a feeling the gane treats them as regular entities, but "loyal" to the user and his/her enemy list. Same reason they all start jumping to each other's defences.
Ethelon2005-06-05 11:21:14
Shuck gives Paralysis, Blacklung, and occasionaly the damage and even mroe rare, a mana drain attack, but not x3 like the Handdmaiden.
Shuck isn't that great of a threat..the last two times I summoned him was by accident and wasted 10 power...I don't ever need him since even the worst fighters in Serenwilde can heal his crap.

Oh yea that's right, I've seen pixies and brownies bashing people, rather then tickling them or shooting arrows.

Still, additional passive paralysis is nice, and blacklung can help hexes stick. Anyway, all the Champion pets do 4 attacks, and an equal chance of each, so it seems, even though it feels like they never do a certain attack.
Ethelon2005-06-05 11:26:31
Paraylsis is way to easy to cure out of, even though we drain decent mana becauseof our ents, it's not enough to rely on going for toadcurse, so the mana drain and paralysis aren't much of a help, especially when nonme of it helps keeping people from flowing....that's all I do anymore...I don't fight it seems, I just try to stop the target from flowing, which rarely works.
