Angel, I think I speak for us all with: spoton.gif

Hehe... it's only about 30 minutes work and it was fun... I wanted to see the changes in detail. If there's any mistakes yell at me and I'll fix them, they should be correct though.

Elfen/Merian Lords got the pump! They look pretty cool... I still am looking forward to making me an Igasho biggrin.gif

I think what Roark meant was that the speed changes will impact knight combat less, not an actual less speed, unless I'm mistaken.

No, the impact of speed bonuses and disadvantages will be softened universally, not just for specific skills.
Thorgal2005-06-06 11:28:10
That's not cool...

Bah, and I was so happy with my +1 equilibrium too. Sigh. sad.gif

What's the point in making combat slower all around?

It won't. Just for us fast people. It'll make it FASTER for tae'dae and so on.

Meh, I don't like it, but at least I'll have SOME benefit compared to what I started with. And maybe DEX will help me dodge too...
Thorgal2005-06-06 11:38:17
Bleh, first being all happy for upgrades, then it turns out I'm going to look at a huge downgrade..depressed.gif

Well, wait up, it might not be HUGE...might only be a small change. :/

Softened like, level 1 to 3 won't make so much of a difference.. or like level 1 slower/faster bal/eq will be close to unoticeable?
Thorgal2005-06-06 11:46:27
Knowing IRE, I'll probably be flinging tarots at 3.5 - 4 seconds instead of 2.5 seconds as an aslaran, this sucks.
Jairdan2005-06-06 11:46:49
Roark, can you please tell us what DEX will do for NON-knights?
Murphy2005-06-06 11:52:24
Chance to dodge and effectiveness of stances
Gwylifar2005-06-06 13:06:47
Edit: the post is moot, Angel's excellent compilation addressed it. Thanks for that, Angel, it's great, and must have taken a lot of work.

The same as it always did: increase your dodging.

But dogs and cats are mortal enemies!

Pish. Domesticated dogs and cats might be, though not as much as people think. Wolves and lions are no more enemies with each other than with any other predator. I'm actually trying to foster some kinship between aslaran and loboshigaru in-game since we have more in common than not. Predatory, furry, and living in prides/packs (actually more hunting cats don't live in prides than do, but clearly aslaran do).

ObOnTopic: I think there is some chance that this is going to diminish the dominance in population of the four main specialization races, and I'm not sure if that's a bad thing. I think we want there to be more elfen than other things in Serenwilde, and more merian than other things in Celest, etc. But maybe we don't want them to be skewed as much as they have been, and hopefully this will gradually nudge that balance a bit.

I am a little concerned about mugwumps and loboshigaru having gained as much as they did compared to the other races, but I'm willing to see it out. I appreciate the changes for aslaran, though I'm puzzled as to why we got worse at healing (added herb penalty) instead of better (getting rid of that inexplicable sip penalty). I'd trade in the equilibrium boost and cold resistance for losing the sip and herb penalties any day. But on balance I'm grateful for the changes we got.

But will it do this more than it does currently? Up until now it's had not much effect.

African wild dogs and big cats (lions, leopards, etc) are very much enemies. They are two very different types of predators, who still must compete for the same sorts of prey. It is even speculated by some that the age-old idea that cats and dogs are mortal enemies comes from those two camps of predators.

Thanks for that post, Angel. smile.gif
