Back to Common Grounds.

Shou, Trill would be better then the average... but Orclach would be able to wipe the floor clean of the catacombs.

Go Orclach!

That's why they will still be preferred. Amazing offensive capabilities are usually taken over amazing defense

You should try convincing people like Tehn, he's set on that Shadowlord Faelings suck badly.
Tehn2005-06-06 20:45:03
I'm not saying they suck, I'm looking around and seeing everyone happy themselves and their classes got buffed and mine got nerfed, the only Shadowlord's I've seen posting saying that it's a good thing are ones who played them on the test server but have no such intent of ever spending the time, money, and effort, to become one in the real Lusternia.

So what you're saying is, you're upset because your race has terrific potential that you're too lazy to unlock?

Regarding shadowlord fealings, when the new knighthood changes are loaded plus the speed adjustment, they will be comperable to tae'dae for damage over time. Though they attain such damaging so with more strikes, which means that they have more chances to induce poisons and wounds than a tae'dae and other slower races. If anything, the shadowlord faelings may still be too powerful after this change, but at minimum it should make them in the same ballpark as other warrior races.

As long as the damage over time is comparable I'm satisfied.. Shadowlord faeling viability compared to other races is something I'm a bit skeptical about, but I'll reserve judgement until I see smile.gif
Daganev2005-06-06 21:13:20
So my question is... do Igasho and Tae'dae do the same damage over time? and Krokani? Because as soon as I figure out how to do it I will probabbbly change to Krokani. RP wise I can change with no problems, but I'm not sure if the change will be proper.
Terenas2005-06-06 21:14:53
Tae'dae's level 3 eq, balance, and magic penalties are still way too huge to make them a viable archetype. My hat goes to people that bothered to remain a Tae'dea or Krokani up until now.

The best defense is a good offense.

And... must... bash... catacombs...

A non-whining Shadowlord?

Ethelon2005-06-06 21:24:21
Dwarves got nailed hard...it's better for us to be Igasho now if we want to be tanky, yet most of use who are dwarves aren't complaining so much over it.

I believe I stated the exact same thing a few pages ago.
Richter2005-06-06 21:35:47
Here was one of my concerns, and bear with me, as I don't follow combat coding/rules/changes well.

If we can do six 10 damage hits, and a tae'dae can do two 30 damage hits in the same time, that's fine with me.

The thing I was worried about was wounding. Since fast doesnt equal pumping people here full of poisons, like it does in other places, its a bit different than some people are used to. So, we have wounding, which are the knight afflictions here. But since we have low-ish strength, we don't do a lot of damage (reportedly compensated by the speed), and since we're small, weak butterfly-thingies, we don't do a lot of wounding, right? Doesn't a tae-dae wound like crap, and we do a lot of small hits, resulting in not much wounding at all?
Terenas2005-06-06 21:39:42
No?

Say a Tae'dea can do 4 wounding per swing and can double swing every 4 seconds, that's 8 wounding. A Shadowlord can get 2 wounding per slash with rapier, and get in 4 slashes every 4 seconds. That's 16 woundings in 4 seconds. Over the long run, speed should allow you to wound more effectively, since you are scoring more hits, which equates to more limbs getting hit. The only downside is someone could constantly apply health and shrug off your wounding, in which case it would require you to constantly switch limbs. Given your high speed though, that shouldn't be a problem at all.
Thorgal2005-06-06 21:58:30
I still don't get why the whole speed code has to be redone, just to balance faeling and tae'dae...can't we just lower their advantage/disadvantage, instead of nerfing every other race with a speed advantage in the process?

Races that'll get nerfed by it: faeling, merian, mugwump, aslaran and furrikin...

Except mugwump and doubtedly specialized faeling, none of these are overpowered..why nerf them? Why not just set back faeling and mugwump advantage if it's really deemed so overpowered?
Sylphas2005-06-06 22:08:11
Give shadowlords a bit more str back, take them down to lvl 2 balance.
Richter2005-06-06 22:10:13
I don't know which would be better, one str, or one speed.
Sylphas2005-06-06 22:11:43
One speed is better than one strength, but you'd hopefully get more strength than one.
Thorgal2005-06-06 22:14:31
If this change to the code is going to balance lvl3 speed disadvantage and lvl3 speed advantage, a lvl2 advantage will give less than a second speed increase, and a lvl1 advantage will be unnoticable..
Syrienne2005-06-06 22:24:14
I just sparred Ceres without her even hitting me back and she totally handled my wounding and damage without blinking.. I cant even attempt to do wound locking anymore.
Terenas2005-06-06 22:27:15
Switch race? I heard Taurian got some nice upgrades. biggrin.gif
