With lightning facepaint, I seem to influence at the same eq recovery speed. So this change doesn't appear to affect me.
Edit: At level 73, I also now sip for around 1000 bromides every go. Is it supposed to be that powerful?

I flung tarot cards at 2.5 seconds before the change, I'm flinging at 3+ seconds now.

I just logged in as you on the test server and wrote the use_balance() routine to message the caster how much it is using up. It says 258 centiseconds (or 2.58 seconds).
Sylphas2005-06-06 23:37:58
Roark, you need one of those owned pics.
Though something is up if Thorgal is off by that much is in his testing.

It still makes races with level 1 eq/balance virtually useless.
Thorgal2005-06-06 23:42:59
Well, my lvl2 balance for tarot apparently isn't changed a lot, but where I got in 5 cosmicfires before quickening wore off before, I get in barely 3 now .

I would like to thank the coders who worked on the race changes, and is glad nothing bad happen to Dracnari. You guys are awesome, and I can't wait for more changes to improve Lusternia!!
Syrienne2005-06-06 23:47:11
Die Shiro you goober
Unknown2005-06-06 23:48:24
I wanted Dracnari to stay the same, since they would be specialized when Gaudiguch is free. We have some small upgrades, and no downgrades... so, i'm happy!!
Sylphas2005-06-06 23:53:08
Dracnari would almost need a downgrade before they can specialize, unless they get +1 con or something crap like that. They're as good as specializations as is.
Elryn2005-06-06 23:53:33
Incidentally, this change makes Glomdoring probably the most powerful influencing force in pure stats.
Their Druid/Wiccan specialization now has exactly the same charisma as faelings, plus an ability to increase it by two with ego regen in Night.
Add this to the fact that with Crowcloaks they can influence undead, and its looking like a pretty tidy little upgrade.
You don't -need- an eq bonus to avoid questioning, it just makes it much more unlikely, so I'm thinking Glomdoring should be eager for the next village revolt.
And did I mention level 2 sip bonus = +1000 ego a pop (from a 4500 ego max)?

I gotta ask - where's the Mugwump upgrade?
Seriously. I was staff casting at an average of 4 seconds before the racial upgrades. We get the upgrades, I go to about 3.5 second staff casting. Yay! Then they nerf the -ONLY- reason (statistically) to play a Mugwump, and it's back down to a 4 second staff cast.
As well as everyone and their dog getting poison resistence, and a ton of folks getting cutting/blunt resistence, so I'm doing considerably less damage (Against Revan, I lost abot 200 damage a shot). But that's largely just a guild thing.
I appreciate all the work folks do for this game, but geeze, it'd be nice if my upgrade didn't get downgraded right away, so I end with a net result of zero change, against (most) folks getting some good stuff.

Speed is advantageous in more ways than if your attack is faster, since you break shield faster and shield faster yourself. Truthfully I didn't think mugwumps even needed upgrades, level 2 fast eq was nuts, and now (by the original standards anyway) you have level 2.1 faster or whatever. Go mugwumpii!

4 seconds equilibrium is very common for spellcasters. (Knights are harder to guage since their weapon speed makes them quite variable.) So with that in mind, a level 1 EQ bonus would take off almost .3 seconds from the spell. I think that's still good.

Yes, it is unlikely to happen, but if you can get a blackmarket of cloaks then other cities and communes can influence the undead.
Syrienne2005-06-07 00:14:23
Quite unlikely since only people who might be in a position to be given one can already influence undead.
Laysus2005-06-07 00:14:49
owwies. Terenas just did 22 wounding in two hits to me with the new changes :/
Thorgal2005-06-07 00:16:20
Alger did 28..14 wounding per jab from his rapier, putrefaction also doesn't affect it at all anymore.

If you don't think they needed something, try coping with level 3 penalties to fire and lightning, -and- having a 10 Constitution.
Being fast is all they have. Because if you shuffled your feet in a thick carpet and poked them, they die.
Syrienne2005-06-07 00:17:10
Ixion just did 16 and I onyl did 10 to him
