I've already had my share of being engaged to people outside of Celest, usually it involves the male being killed several times.

You people should get rid of the law that says you can't marry outside of the wherever you are at the moment or else poor Joli is going to be single a long long time. dry.gif

Getting on topic.. The whole marriage thing is lovely and all but it it's sad when people get engaged as novices/young characters and the person never comes back.

And I don't really think striving for "Engaged to most people in the realms" is good for one's reputation.

And the laws about Celestians not marrying taintfolk.. Well that kinds makes sense. If they get into another huge war thing. Who are you (or they) going to side with. How does one get envolved with what is basically the enemy anyway?

yeah yeah. I know. I guess I just got bored this week. I would like Joli to get married someday though.

About the whole novices thing... yeah it's a bad idea until you know for certain that the other person is going to stay around a while. Maybe they should raise that level requirement to level 40 or 50.

Another thing I don't like is when two people meet each other in the realm and 5 minutes later their engaged, just because one of them proposed. I want some effing romance people.. sad.gif Yes, I will admit I've been one of those people to get engaged quickly, but never again..

Marriage is great. But like most things about the family system, it's too limiting. Let us roleplay customs and cultures other than vanilla monogamy! Heck, we're not even all human, and even humans aren't all monogamous.

Yeah.. I remember the time one of the aqua novices was hooked up with a glom novice. They hadn't even read the help marriage scroll yet or gotten to level 10 or anything.

I kinda wonder how that went down in the caverns.

Girl: Ooh it's shiny! Can I have it?
Boy: Sure, but only if you marry me and have my babies.
Girl: but aren't you from Glomdoring?
Boy: yeah, but that doesn't matter..
Girl: okie!

Then later..

GT: Joli says, "What's this about some Glom novice getting killed over an engagement with one of our novices...?"

I have searched the commune help files, and see no barrier. Must be serenwilde you're thinking of. I believe they persecuted Ialie a lot for being in love with Murphy
