Well at the moment I'm off school for work experience, and I'm working in a shop (WH Smiths) and it's so hard! They're getting 40 hours of free labour of me, full work, full time, and I have no friends working there with me sad.gif I was just wondering whether any of you have done it, where you did it, and how it was.

I was saying to my friend the other day that life is starting to get serious. I don't like it sad.gif
Ashteru2005-06-07 19:55:42
Had that too last year. 40 hours in the network administration in a municipal authorities.
I surfed in the web all the time like 5 hours, the other three I was fixing computers, bugs on the website or just making coffee. whistling.gif
If my job will be like that, well...it won't be a hard life.

Yeah, the real world sucks. I went from goofing off to working 40+ hours a week.
Unknown2005-06-07 23:47:38
I've been working 40 hour weeks since I was 14.
Athana2005-06-07 23:51:14
Work? What's that?
Unknown2005-06-08 01:55:42
I only work about 24-28 hours a week. 5 days a week though.
Unknown2005-06-08 02:25:04
I work 21 hours a week most weeks and earn more than most people I know. Ah, government jobs are nice!

Full work, full time, no friends, no pay.

Yeah, work experience is like forced labour! *mutters* Myself, I worked in the Sleaford Development Group for the fortnight and I -still- don't know what exactly it is they do. Spent most of the time stapling at stamping various things. ANNOYING. I feel your pain. Glad I'm over and done with that. Yay for OU.

I just started this week at a IT department, answering phones, putting in work orders, and trolling the forums.

At least I get payed 15 bucks an hour. They make you euros work w/out pay? Ouch.
Erion2005-06-08 14:18:49
And, just to best the rest of you,I'm working 45 hour weeks.
Soll2005-06-08 15:41:39
laugh.gif I liked my work experience! unsure.gif

T'was 9 - 5 in a Pharmacy for a week, Llyod's Pharmacy, actually. The people were great, heh, though we had someone just about as bitchy as Erion.(More or less. *hum*) I enjoyed it, though it seems like none of you did. tongue.gif That week was pretty cool, for me. Didn't get paid, though I didn't matter. I thoroughly enjoyed it. fear.gif Got a few things at the end which made my day, heh.
Erion2005-06-08 15:48:31
Hehe. Well, I'm not always a bitch. smile.gif

I've just come in. I am knackered. Lugging crates, followed by crate lugging, a short break, then some stocking of stuff from crates, and some tidying of stuff from crates, lunch, stocking shelves using crates, followesd by lugging crates and then home. sad.gif

I had a "senior internship", and you weren't supposed to be paid. BUT...I did my internship at my job and got paid during the month of May. Joy and rapture.
Ashteru2005-06-08 18:51:21
I was paid full 270 € for one month of work... glare.gif Hard work, I must add. I had to carry computers from one building in another, and I tell you...19 inche monitors aren't nice to carry over a longer time and several stairs. whistling.gif
Soll2005-06-08 18:55:09
Well, I had to take stock(-Amazingly- dull and a pain on my back) in the morning, at 9:30 - 10:30 ish, then I'd do the pill-packs from 10:30. That was the main sucky thing, since it tore apart my fingers. *weep* *grabs packet of pills* *pop* *pop* *pop* *pop*... Etc. From 12 - 1 I did prescriptions, and then a 1 hour break... Then... from 2 - 4:30 I did prescriptions, and at 4:30 I did another few crates of stock taking. For 5 days, admittedly not a long time in the overall scheme, but enough to make my back ache. sad.gif

I remember missing the people I worked with for ages after, because they were great. biggrin.gif Still, glad I'm over it now. Heh
