In America the word means nothing.
I have had multiple midterms in one class. That is I had 4 midterms and no final.
Normally a final means it has the highest percentage of your grade, like 30% to 50% percent depending on the subject.
A Semester means you have two per year, a Term means you have 3 per year, unless its a trimester and a quarter menas you get 4 per year, although you normally have 5 because the are 2 summer quarters called a summer session. Its all very confusing and there is no standard to it.
A Final normally just means its the most important test in the class.

yeah. and if you screw up on your finals, you can kiss any scholarships you had good bye if youre attending a major university.
And as for an update, i think i passed all my finals....i think. dont quote me. for my mi-bio class, we had to design an ecosystem and it had to be damned near perfect. we could only forecast 3 possible natural disasters, and they had all be manageable by the AI programs we were given at the beginning of the semester. my 302 zoo class was okay. but i couldn't remember one stupid question, but when i looked it up, i was kicking myself so hard. and it was an essay question...worth...30 points. *screams* but we all got bonus points because we did an extra paper, or were given a chance to. some people didnt do it. and my theo-mat 211 class was just screwed up. like im ever going to sit down in front of a tree and think to myself, "now if the rate of universal light travels at X speed from points A to the 10th power to point B to the 3rd power, then this tree should be at point Z in this amount of time, because of the X amount of force and X amount of gravitational pull. and oh, lets not forget the pressure and collapse of a black hole, which is X=C to the 3rd=R*P*Half the amount of gravity on earth....
