Aquamancer damage has always been too high. Yet no one makes a huge fuss about it. Meanwhile they nitpick about Geomancers *mutter* We do censor.gif .

My god man, shut the hell up about damage. Look at your freaking demesne, it does 1000 damage passively, plus the 800 to 900 damage per staffcast. You're managing nearly 2000 damage right there. Aquamancer's hailstorm and staff hurts because that's the only damaging abilities they have, unless you count phantom (which Geomancers have as well) and jellies does like 50 to 100 damage. So quit bitching about the stupid damage already, I take more damage against a Geomancer than an Aquamancer even though I have 102 blunt fullplate, drawdown, trans resilience, aura, resistance, so please just shut freaking up about your class's inability to do damage.

It was from friggin Acrune hanging out in the next room

a good tactic yes, but the damage is too much for a room attack

not to mention i have lvl 2 cold lvl 2 cutting putrefaction a fire vial AND a freaking set of 101 fullplate

Mmm, yeah, that was fun. I had 20 int though, and note that you're able to kill me pretty easily due to my low con. Also :

Kaervas points his staff at you and it swells, rapidly discharging a large
boulder that hurls into your body, smashing flesh and bone.

Geo damage is hardly terrible. I don't know what kind of damage increases he has, but still. Nearly half my max health (max is 3000 or so without staff).

QUOTE
Wow, you take 834 damage from hailstorm. You probably do that much per swing to Acrune

Yeah, something like that. Note thats why I was hanging out in the next room tongue.gif

Hopefully that will keep Revan's dumb mouth shut for a bit of time.

While I don't care that much about this whole argument. I have to say that Aquamancer damage trumps Geomancer's. For one reason its easier to use and easier to stack in actual battle situations. Since there is no setup requirement for Aquamancers to deal lethal amounts of damage.

Right, Aquamancer's instant attacks like hailstorm/staff hurts, Geomancer's staff isn't as bad, but their demesnes also do around 5 times more damage than Aquamancer's. They're both extremely powerful, no Aquamancer or Geomancer, or Druids have any rights to ever complain about damage.
Revan2005-06-14 19:18:35
Druids have every right, honestly. But Terenas, the big deal is that for mages, staff damage (active) is MUCH preferable to passive damage. Why? It gives us alot more flexability with combat. I'd be very happy to see staff damage upgraded and our demesne damage downgraded.
Acrune2005-06-14 20:23:57
I'd be curious to see what kind of damage a merian geomancer or a viscanti aquamancer could do with staff. It seems to me that the sole damage difference is in the attack damage types, and the intelegence of the races. Keep in mind that the damage done is balanced by the amount of health. A viscanti at my level would probably have about 1000 more health then me, but I could do more damage. Seems fair to me.

one day im going to be a mage! one day! when i can afford it sad.gif
Ceres2005-06-15 06:09:21
Thing about being a Geomancer or Aquamancer, is that you're effective just with Aquamancy or Geomancy transed.
Shamarah2005-06-15 09:59:50
Not in duels. In duels you're going to need those runes/dreamweaving skills. But when you're working in groups, yes, you can make a significant difference with just high (not even trans) Aquamancy/Geomancy.

Nope!

All ya need is a staff and demesne.
Sylphas2005-06-15 15:04:41
If you do 1k+ with your staff, maybe.
Ceres2005-06-15 15:06:29
Aquamancers do.

Geomancers have chasm.

Any questions?
Sylphas2005-06-16 18:18:48
Yes, one. What about druids?
Thorgal2005-06-16 18:54:18
You have need to use Sap, just the staff won't cut it.
Sylphas2005-06-16 19:23:48
And sap won't stick without your other skillsets. So mages can afford to staff and use their demesne, druids have to actually work for it.
