He must hold some position in the heart of Magnagora else he wouldn't be able to switch between every guild, fight for the Light, and still end up back in the city.

I agree, but I think it's reasonable to think you can count on vitae, lich, ghost, conglutination, etc. But anytime you have to pray, you should RP that you don't know if Atropos is going to let you go this time.

Ummm... Why?
Personally, this is one of my biggest pet peeves about MUDs all over the internet: being asked to take death seriously IC in the face of all evidence (IC and OOC) that there's no reason to.
Just once I would like to see a MUD without perma-death actually create a coherent, IC explanation of what "death" is, seeing as how it's definitely not death as we know it.
No one ever really dies in such a MUD without it being a major plot point. PC or NPC, characters come back again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and still we're asked to wail and gnash our teeth as if each "death" was something more than a cosmic time-out.
Incoherency and inconsistency about the fundamental phsyical laws that shape a culture's personality are the bane of solid role-play in any massively multiplayer world. because they ensure that none of us will be able to agree about what should be even the most basic truths.
And when it comes to a choice between reacting to some nebulous idea of what role-play should be or reacting to the actual, reliable game physics, I'm going to let the actual, reliable game physics shape my reactions.

Weren't we talking about Lichdom? Now it's ghost? Meh. Seriously, if you want to balance some things out. I'd like to suggest something on top of what people already said.
1) You can only Ghost or put up Lichseed at night
2) Inquisition stops stripping Lichseed
3) Radiance not do double damage to Liches while under Inquisition
4) Raise Dead and Lich Touch be made useful
5) Experience lost while in enemy territory be reduced
6) Raise Dead actually raises the player as Undead with all the penalties and bonuses. That'd add interesting conflict, especially for Celestians.

Ah, so that means Ceres holds some position in Celest. Excellent! Thanks. I love your logic sometimes.

A certainly agree with points 2-6. 6 sounds interesting.
And Exarius, if people around you in IRL were coming back to life, would you not be scared to die anyway? Wouldn't you think... oh, but what if in -my- case something goes wrong?
Fates argue over your revival. It should actually worry you IC, even though we all know your return is guaranteed.
And, after all, it's just your choice if your character takes your ressurection as granted or not.
Unknown2005-06-13 00:56:26
Points 2-6 worry me (just joined Celest =).
I still think it's fine the way it is, besides maybe ghost and the way it works out in the inner sea.

I quite clearly said solo.
A large enough group can kill any amount of guards as any class.
Go coalesce on a group of 12 guards and show us how long you last, hm?

Ghost is awesome.
On the test server, I killed Meleris as an ur'guard with ease, and solo-ed twelve guards on a statue using hit and run. (Nativeforming does not get you hit by the statue)

I don't follow the last one though. What exactly do you mean? How would that work?
Thorgal2005-06-13 08:46:27
It means we could turn you into a lich, for example, or a lesser form of a lich. Though points 1 - 5 were what I meant to agree with, 6 isn't very viable.
Shiri2005-06-13 08:48:55
Rezzkills are a bad, bad thing. :/ Maybe if it didn't lose them any experience though.
Amaru2005-06-13 11:43:16
I agree with Jelaludin - losing extra exp for 'enemy territory' deaths in the Sea of Despair or Inner Sea is wrong.
Erion2005-06-13 12:50:08
Amaru - you should just get a team of mugwump gr1s at like, level 40 or so, like, 4 of them, to amissio your target. Have it all set up w/ a reflex system, so you CT something, they Declare %1;chant amissio %1, and you #wait 1000 and absolve.
