Exp loss does not affect MY, nor MANY other Magnagorans, willingness to take part in combat.

This is why Magnagora > Celest. Many Magnagorans are selfless and devoted as far as the city is concerned. Apparently very few Celestians feel that way about their home.

Are you saying you dont have conglut Amaru?
136497
Because when I raid Mag, I can conglutinate? No.
Ekard2005-06-11 20:27:01
Make lichdoom usable only once per in game day. Lets see how often then you will be raiding us.

It has nothing to do with the characters. It's a quality of the player type attracted by the city's cultural background.
Marcalo2005-06-11 20:28:34
i've had to pray twice now just today, personally xp doesn't mean crap to me at all, i was level 5 taking on level 50+ visaeris when i first created marc, it depends on the player its sad when people get discouraged so much by the loss of xp that they throw hissy fits ie stagar, as a prime example. Now yes lich is nice, but really amaru you know this, i was raiding and fighting when i was in seren just as much as i do as a mag, you just need to foster the environment within celest ok you lost xp well later we can all go bash or somthing to get xp back.

Now no offence, but people like Razyx, Silvanus, Revan... are not the people I'm talking about. It's Thorgal and the legendary Ur'Guard I'm talking about, who use Serpent and raid, and really make a difference by themselves. Without these (Daevos, Marcalo, Murphy, Thorgal, Alger etc), the Geomancers like you wouldn't be beating us.
It does affect things. You're just blind to it.

Waiting for ages? It's 30 seconds, maybe less, and they come back with no power and 0 defenses. It's practically a free kill.
136498
OMG A FREE KILL! Wait... oh yeah, you just killed them anyway. It should be more than 'a free kill' 30 seconds later...
Sylphas2005-06-11 20:34:13
I couldn't care less about experience. I don't raid because I can't tank guards, and (until I became faeling), had no real way past them. If I had Ghost, or hell, if I still had coalesce, I'd probably raid at some point.
Unknown2005-06-11 20:38:42
You still haven't supplied a reason as to why flaming an eye at the exit before attacking the raiders isn't a viable strategy. It's not like 2 reserves from a powerstone and 100 gold is a significant cost.

What if it's at the entrance? Like it usually is with raids.
Edit: And anyway, they can just go in the other direction, find some remote room and teleport out when they ghost. Remember it's the general effect, no little things are going to affect the whole situation.

QUOTE(Jello @ Jun 11 2005, 04:12 PM)
Amaru, is there any reason why you don't feel eye sigils are an option for Celest? I can see Serenwilde having economic trouble with it under certain circumstances, but Celest shouldn't have any trouble using them.
136488
Actually, Serenwilde gets off pretty easy too as I personally bought all of the eye sigils we had in Rockholm, Estelbar, and Ethereal.
The problem is those nasty, greedy enchanters who disenchant for free comms (bad idea in my opinion). It takes a lot upkeep and in -huge- areas like Southgard, it is simply not feasible to keep it all eye sigiled up.

I'd be happy if you could only lichseed at night. I cannot drawdown during the day *pout* so why should the darkest of necromancy be anymore feasible?

If necromancy got some other kind of small upgrade then I think that would be fair.
Amaru2005-06-11 20:46:37
All the arguments raised here on the side of lichdom:
Achaea had the exact same situation.
They decided to change soulcage to once-per-RL-day, and it improved things considerably.

Well, if they're at the entrance, you flame it outside of the entrance.
As for teleporting out, that's something anyone can do provided the distortion field isn't up.

And don't think I'm anti-necromancy.. I recently suggested an upgrade to it, in detail, on envoy boards. I just think that this never losing experience... is the wrong advantage for it to have over other skillsets.

Not after they've already died.
Daevos2005-06-11 20:50:52
Actually they can, by vitaeing and running. Or vitaeing and hermitting as you do.
Amaru2005-06-11 20:52:09
Vitae causes exp loss. And also, you are just as vulnerable after vitae as after lich, except with vitae you don't get the period to run away as a soul.
