Well, a few things must be noted since we are comparing vitae to lich.
1. Vitae is accessible to everyone and does not required a transcendant skillset.
2. You have a relatively limited period to run compared to Lichdom, but no real drawback like several seconds of equilibrium lost. And thus can hermit/spore immediately.
3. The experience lost from vitae is relatively minor.

Vitae... doesn't even compare to lich. It's like soulcage and starburst, Daevos. Starburst/vitae is just asking to get killed again.
Daevos2005-06-11 21:02:02
How many times have you died again after vitaeing, and why do you use it if its worthless?
Xenthos2005-06-11 21:02:05
It doesn't seem like lichdom is the problem, Amaru. Neither you, nor Malicia, nor Triden, nor Folkien, nor Cronnacht, nor Munsia have it, yet all of you raid Glomdoring and its holdings pretty often and I haven't seen any of you die while raiding yet (though Munsia has been killed a few times in Faethorn in retaliation).

Vitae puts you on someone's victim list, which can be a huge advantage.
Daevos2005-06-11 21:03:45
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Thats actually why Amaru is on my victim list right now.

Glomdoring is weak, that's different.
And I use vitae because sometimes I can hermit afterwards.
Unknown2005-06-11 21:06:17
So Celest isn't weak like Glomdoring is?
Marcalo2005-06-11 21:06:25
then make vitae not flare for the same time lich does and give you time to move as a soul before it goes off. that would make vitae ALOT better for everyone, rather then nerfing the already weakened skill set of necro

Not as.
And Marcalo, that's actually a great idea. I'd be fine with it all if vitae was lich-with-its-current-exp-loss. It'd make Lusternia as a whole more bearable.
Syrienne2005-06-11 21:10:50
That actually is a fairly good way to do it Marcalo.
Eiru2005-06-11 21:10:52
Right.
Give trueheal it's deserved equilibrium/balance loss.

Amaru2005-06-11 21:11:10
I sense irrelevant griefing.
Nokraenom2005-06-11 21:11:37
...and this thread isn't?
Amaru2005-06-11 21:12:29
No.
Unknown2005-06-11 21:15:40
So wait, you're suggesting vitae let someone move around as a spirit like lich does?
Amaru2005-06-11 21:16:45
Sure. The difference is that it would be half the time before you reform, and you'd still lose exp from vitae as normal.
It would solve the problem of lich affecting the overall game balance without downgrading necromancy, and plus, upgrades for necromancy are on their way.

Unknown2005-06-11 21:18:05
I would seriously stop playing if that happened It makes no sense, and having one side moving around as spirits/ghosts is interesting, having the entire game do it would just be retarded.
Eiru2005-06-11 21:19:43
Oh yeah, ofcourse, since we're being reasonable, it'd be more like 1/3rd the time right? Oh and equilibrium loss too.
Unknown2005-06-11 21:20:08
So what would be the purpose of lich then?
