I just realized what's missing in Lusternia

Back to Common Grounds.

As I've said in my signature now, I can't think of a good reason why it couldn't be tried, and destroyed if it has the negative effects some are worried about.

Tonnes of wasted time coding (and building) when they already have a year's worth of future plans ahead of them?
Unknown2005-06-12 02:49:33
Eh, if there were no quests it could be done inside of a half hour. Though since it's Lusternia I guess they would almost have to include some.
Murphy2005-06-12 02:59:15
I have a quest.....getting drunk and starting a bar fight with the nearest paladin

There was no grand design to exclude a "North of Thera" type spot. Indeed, I know for a fact that in Achaea the famous NoT was never intended to be a meeting place by design. Players just decided to congregate there. (Yes, it was entirely a decision made by players that gradually evolved and that the administration had absolutely nothing to do with.)

You're more than welcome to congregate at the top of Avechna's Peak, Portal of Fate, Bob's shop or the middle of the Inner Sea if you choose. There's nothing stopping you.
Unknown2005-06-12 03:12:30
But there's no reason to congregate at any of those places. We need food and booze sad.gif

NoT was a road nexus, near the resurrection spot and near the neutral food spot. It was a great setup that surely helped to make achaea a success.

Rule one of life, once the damage is done, it's done.

I put my voice in the corner that says this idea is a bad one for the reasons already stated.
Gwylifar2005-06-12 03:40:20
I've always thought the Ackleberry Triple Junction was a logical candidate. But nowadays, really, the best choice is the Aetherplex Portals. It's near the Peak, and tons of shops, and it's neutral.
Tsuki2005-06-12 05:31:44
Tsuki has no reason to associate with those outside of Serenwilde, and several varying reasons (personal and otherwise) against such associations. True, she's got family elsewhere, but there are reasons against snuggling with them. wink.gif We've got the family clan channel and mail for communication and exchange of birthday presents.

If you, the player, want to socialize ... spend time in a chat room or on the forums or whatever.

If you, the character, want to socialize ... find some places that appeal to you and other like-minded people. Nexus or a shop/park/chessboard/gambling place for commune/city mates and allies, guildhall for guildmates.

I disagree. I think such an inn would be a smashing idea. And, you don't have to be buddybuddy with your enemies. I think it'd be interesting to have a truely neutral place where people who usually hate eachother can meet and have to stay peaceful out of respect for their only being guests. Or screw manners and just have a barfight!

I don't think it'd be that huge an amount of work either. For one, I'm sure there'll be plenty of talented players who're just waiting to be tossed a bone and hired for some minor voluntary building work or even just asked for suggestions. And, how big do you imagine this place? A small handful rooms, some food and drink to buy, some items, a couple mobiles... I think it's worth it. If there's gold needed to get it done, just tell me where to donate to. (Or whatever other help for that matter. Can I forge the sign above the inn's door? *grin*)
Soll2005-06-12 15:49:10
Ok, well. Do this...

Go to Serenwilde, and DEPOSIT 1000000 GOLD SOLL.

Sorry Soll, Serenwilde's guards would rip me into pieces before I even came close to the bank. Or anything else for that matter.
Manjanaia2005-06-12 17:49:16
An inn would be great! I'll even 'run' it. biggrin.gif If someone gives me some capital.
thakin2005-06-12 18:39:10
First off, an inn is a great idea. Second, I wanna see some kinda of CTF Arena game type thing. Maybe 5 on 5, city versus city, winners nexus gets some power?

You mean, Magnagora?

I'd prefer 3 vs 3 teams irrespective of alignment, where the winning team gets creds.
thakin2005-06-12 18:50:39
And I still want to see a coliseum where can go against NPCs and other players all at once, to see how long you can last. Or a Labyrinth maze type place with NPCs trying to kill you and traps and riddles, all while you try to get to the end. Make it really hard, and give it an honours line like He has defeated the power of the Labyrinth or something. Deathgate Cycle anyone? biggrin.gif
Unknown2005-06-12 18:53:27
hijack.gif Please return to talking about what a great idea an inn for the pilgrims at the foot of Avechna's would be.
Laysus2005-06-12 19:07:01
I don't like the inn idea.

If I want to socialise, I do it at my nexus, simple enough tongue.gif
