I'm all for not guilty getting off, guilty being punished, and effective juries being chosen.

My pet peeve is that we're so afraid of punishing the innocent that a death sentence is more like 30 years in prison, after which time we might get around to killing you. I'm all for hanging people behind the courthouse the day they're convicted of murder or rape or something.

At any rate, I'm very happy with the outcome. Only because the Jury said they believed he was innocent, and they trusted their justice system. Honestly, the mother is the sort of person who will find the squeekiest cart in K-Mart, put her kids in it, and kick the wheel whenever she's out of camera range, hoping it'll fall apart so she can sue.

Whether Jackson did it or not is, honestly, irrelevant. At least, in America. It's the credibility of the person suing.

We really need to shift the country to a better scale than simply liberal/conservative. I know lots of people who are socially liberal, but economically conservative, or tons of other combinations, and we all get stuck in badly labelled categories based on whatever we feel most strongly about. I'm a liberal, because I don't mind homosexuals, like the environment, and work at a non-profit, yet I have plenty of conservative views.
