I'd like to see size be looked at again.
It seems the small races get crazy advantages such as dodging, writhing and tumbbling, yet us larger races are told our advantage is stun resistance.
I'd like to see being extremly large having a good effect too, even if the stun time was noticibly shorter, as in similair to the advantage a furrikin or faeling has from writhing.
Ideas? thought?

The main advantage the bigger guys seem to have is they have a helluva lot more strength and con...
The only advantage other than that I can really think of, is physical resistances, or racial attacks/abilities like barge or something... *shrugs*

Aside from stun length (isn't this a myth?), hunger, summon resistance, crashing, and forced movement resisting bonuses, perhaps large size could also provide slower bleeding rates, or even slower affliction effects.
A larger size generally means a slower metabolism (not that I know anything about biology, so I'm hoping thats true), so diseases and wounds progress less rapidly than in the small races.
The effect would have to be slight, otherwise it might be too significant an advantage.
Edit: I'd also like size to factor into dodging... but it seems we're stuck with stances only.

Oohh, maybe we can address the fact that to be a capable Guardian you need to be a big, brutish race. Which doesn't make sense. It's a shame this section never gets looked at.
Murphy2005-06-19 14:06:34
Agreed.
Meanwhile with my low int and huge size I'm bloody guardian fodder, small races get all the good stuff, lets make writhe and tumble universal

... or not.
Small size is usually an advantage that balances other disadvantages, such as a lack of strength or constitution (in the case of Faelings).

The hunger thing is actually neutral, as they take more food to fill themselves up.
Stun resistance I wouldn't think of as too much of a problem for them to get.

then reduce the disadvantages and advantages...
It sucks to be size 18 and having a nihilist with demon on just shackles keeping you webbed just about permenantly, if they use hanged man its a permenant state of webbing, allowing them to heal everything and start again

Outside of combat, yes, you're quite right.
Combat, however, is a different story. Vomiting/geomancer hunger cloud absolutely decimates the small races. I can go from satiated to passing out shockingly quickly.

Use Tipheret.

Oh, I forgot about that. Okay.
Well, stun resistance still isn't too much of a problem.
Murphy2005-06-19 14:23:15
With my level 1 slower eq? not to mention you have to be on balance to evoke tipheret so writhing generally is faster anyway.
On another note if they use shackles and shieldstun together you can also be permantaly hindered

Writhing can't be faster if you're talking about hangedman/webbing, because you'll never get out, in theory.
And yes, shieldstun is just too freaking good. Warriors can use that like a bitch too, it sucks.

Can they still do anything to you while they are hindering?
Murphy2005-06-19 14:28:27
shieldstun should be removed from the game totally imo, its rediculous especially in groups and with people who have ents or demsnes.
And if you're talking about being both webbed and hangedmanned yeh tipheret is faster, but if you are just being webbed by the player and hangmanned straight after by the same player, as a large race you dont get unbound in time to shield or attack back as they overlap for me. For a small race you can just writhe out and smack on them.
The penalty for writhing should be removed and the advantage only remain, its a real shame that i'm so weak toward guardians with low int and big size.
EDIT: Elryn: They can hit you with the demon on scourge if they web you themselves and follow it up with a hangedman as you don't get any time to react between writhings.

Oh, one other thing... is wounding different for different sizes?

Agreed.
Actually, writhing out isn't that fast even as a small race. Tumbling at our size is freaking ridiculous, but writhing is fairly slow whatever size you are.
Anyway, that's the penalty you get for choosing the race. ()
Back on topic - stun length reduction for large races (but not increase for small races, it's already too long really) and that's about all that's necessary, really.
Murphy2005-06-19 16:25:08
im told there is already a stun reduction, but its insignificant compared to writhe speed and tumble spped (The writhe speeds are rather significant, especially from being impaled on the cross)
I'm happy to take a writhe penalty if i get a significant stun reduction

Well, I was told there is a stun reduction too, but Lisaera (uh, or Roark, I forget) specifically posted that that is a myth.
