Don't forget, that hitting parry, missing or getting dodged, will cause the arm you missed with, to recover balance at double speed.
Daevos2005-06-17 18:11:43
That's worth less. I think you need to go back to being a warrior, for proper perspective. Even one miss is terrible, because it means that the pressure you are placing on a opponent is weakened.
Narsrim2005-06-17 18:14:08
So knights are strong against other knights... that sounds... right on target.
-----
And with my regards to balance, I don't think you should be able to kill or damn near kill anyone instantly at a cost of 3-4 power (isn't that what two lunges are?)

So says the master of the Pooka Cannibalize/Toadcurse combo.
Daevos2005-06-17 18:18:27
Well, I don't think there should be so many damn counters against us. I don't like depending on luck. Also I believe the health maximums are too out of whack. There shouldn't be such a wide gap between people. More and more it seems people want the game to be balanced further against warriors, when it already to the point where you need runes to be effective. Though the recent skill tweaks to us helped quite a bit, there is still a problem, that was made slightly worst by the wounding change.
I look back at Laysus' Ixion log and its immediately obvious to me that if he had 5k health instead 2.6k the 1.8 damage he took would have been nothing with his alchemy sip bonus, multiple entanglement abilities, fae, parry, rebounding, and stancing.

And then you have Aesyra, who's max health is insane.

You can't base balance off of one individual, it needs to be based off of an average, common-based bit. Demigods are overpowered. They're supposed to be.

Not like you didn't manage to almost instantly pinleg me. Still wondering how much wounding you did back then.

So to fight knights I must be a tank. Gee, if I'd known that I'd have given up trying to be a faeling long ago.

That was my point, we can't base the balance of Warriors on Laysus' 2612 health.

No, you're right. But Laysus doesn't have much less than your average non-knight.
Asarnil2005-06-17 18:43:40
Umm, I have 3.1k health as a nonspecialised Geomancer. and not even a particularly high level one at that.
Terenas2005-06-17 18:45:50
I'm a Merian knight and whenever I'm going up against another knight with lightning runes, I know I'm going to get smacked around hard. Icarus vitalize me from 3200 health in a matter of less than 10 seconds through my armor, resilience, and drawdown. I know I'm not going to complain vehemently about that kind of damage because I chose a race with horrible Con and susceptibilities.
That being said, Ixion is doing great damage because he invested a ton of times and credits into his weapons, his fabled 200 damage broadswords that probably took quite a few forgings had to be worth something. At least his wounding isn't spectacular so he isn't pinning your legs in 3 rounds.

I am more inclined to feel that wounding is the problem right now. Damage is not bad, with the changes in elemental runes. Being able to pinleg an opponent on the second combo is a bit harsh.
*Note: The manner in which sixthsense and blindness interacts with each other needs to be looked into. It is extremely easy for a speed knight to totally shutdown the offense of another fighter, especially considering how easy it is to give pierced/severed nerve afflictions.

I don't think it is physically possible for any knights to be able to pinleg on a second combo, unless the target has level 3 cutting weakness and no armor whatsoever. It is a heavy wound affliction that actually hits frequently at the critical zone. It's possible to pinleg on the third combo (though that is still way too easy) though and should really be looked into.
And definitely Niricol should be looked into, or faeleaf should be changed back to not consume herb balance.

Yes I am. Asarnil is an ur'Guard and is my main, but I also have a Shadowdancer, Geomancer and a Hartstoner (that I can remember the username/passwords for at least) around the place.
