A fight against a very powerful runed knight, in which you'll notice my autosipper did not work. I was parrying head 50%, gut 50%, and stanced legs. I have ~44/45 greatrobes, a shield, barkskin, staghide, trans combat and mythical resilience.
In this log I had the same defences, but was parrying 100% head, and stanced legs.
This is not about the knight in question (name removed), but clearly this level of damage is possible. I think that either dodging formulas need to be vastly improved (preferably), or if that is impossible then knight damage needs to be reexamined.
In the second log the four strikes brought my head wounds down to 18%. The attacking knight had 14 dexterity, while I had 18.
I really think this sort of thing should be toned down. I'm all for having powerful knights being able to dominate weaker races, but I don't believe it should be quite as easy as getting two combos in. I'm a level 74 Faeling that considered the knight in question 60% of my might. I'm not expecting to be able to win in a damage competition, but I should last a lot longer than around 10 seconds.
For those who say rebounding and shielding are hazards, most knights I've fought can raze both of these and strike again before I can put them back up. Webbing/transfixing/paralysing stops a knights offense, yes, but it stops ANYONE's main offense.
If dodging and parrying is supposed to compensate for incredibly powerful strikes when they do land, then such avoidance should be much more common than one out of every five blows. I am near to the smallest, most dextrous, and most combat-proficient that you can get. If this is the highest rate of dodging, I shudder to think of how often other races get to avoid such devastating blows.

Well see, he was using lunges, which ignore parry and stance, and do double wound damage...and even if you would be able to parry or dodge, it wouldn't have helped you at all, since they regain balance double as fast from a missed, dodged or parried hit.
You also shouldn't have to hide the name just cause some out of whack moderator decides to abuse his priveleges cause he doesn't want his character's class downgraded.

I'm beginning to think this is a problem of knights being too tanky. Best armour, and best health, and they ONLY want to seem to test on themselves, which is how they come up with these ridiculous figures they use to justify this crap.

In all of both logs, Ixion was using Lunge except the first two strikes, which missed and rebounded. Lunge goes through shield and parry and cost 2P. I can see your frustration but Ixion is the highest damage warrior in the whole realm, an extreme which should not be used as an example.
If he were using normal strikes against your stanced body part, he would miss 3 out of 4 hits, perhaps more. If you were fighting someone other than Ixion, you would probably last a bit longer.

You're an unspecialised faeling.
You're not meant to have the same balance as other races, the only person to succeed as a non specialised race is terenas, as a merian.
I do however see the need for someone with 3k health to not take 1.8k a combo (which is around what I do with my new weapons too) Henceforth I sugest knight damage to be a little more % based than it already is.
your taking 1.8k out of 2.8k max is a little rough in my opinion. You can have your changes when my size doesn't hurt me so much when being webbed.
Also don't forget that he is one of 3 maybe 4 knights TOTAL in the game that can do that sort of damage. The Damage knights like that here are Me, Daevos, Ixion and Icarus.....3 out of 4 are magnagorian its frustrating for you yes, but on the same note its a very very VERY small minority of knights who have the right artifacts weapon race combo.
Remove resilience from the skillset list and it will make damage so much easier to balance, and also look at the % based too. Perhaps someone with high HP will take more HP that wounds, and someone with small hp take more wounds.
Or even have a "stance" low down in the combat skillset that alters the damage you take. IE "wounding stance" to reduce wounding but increase damage taken, and a "damage stance" that increases the wounds you take but reduces the total HP damage done. It seems the only person who will fight me these days is Ixion, who can kill me in one haymaker or 5 slashes. Never have dodged against him.

Just while we're on that note, a faeling actually has a better chance to survive that than most races. 1 less con, 2 more sipping bonus. So "unspecialised faelings suck" isn't the answer to that.
1.2k sounds fine. 1.4k is less fine, but I'm not sure. 1.8k is too freaking much. :/

Ok a knight with 180 total damage weapons and 16 str in my opinion should do 1k a combo to elryn.

Sorry Elryn, but I can't sympathise with you here. In the same way Imperial Merians are destined to always be pathetic, unspecialised faelings will always be a very weak race. You can't expect to be able to stand head to head with a massive warrior currently as a faeling.
The problem for me is 'surely it makes roleplay sense that faelings should make good Hartstone', and that's a race/class issue which needs addressing. Lunging ignores stances and never misses, so that can't be applied here.

For example, tumbling around and using your speed to keep him vined and restricted for the few seconds you enter the room, making him walk through briar walls and demesnes to reach you - all these sorts of frustrating tactics I think could be pulled off as a faeling, and you seem to lack creativity in that sense.
You picked a difficult race to fight with, you need to counteract that by thinking of some new ways to fight.

I think the ability itself, Lunge, is ridiculous. Ignoring parry, stancing, and rebounding. Supposedly the protections against the insane damage. You have enough power to strike usually around 6 lunges straight (due to power regeneration). This is enough to kill just about anyone outright, and no amount of parrying, stancing, or rebounding will help.

Nah, give warriors a chance. All they have are these simple, physical attacks. If it weren't for lunge, a good parryer and stancer could just render a warrior useless. As it is, something as simple as a web makes them useless. They need to have some kind of chance, lunge is fine.

It annoys me that even by parrying and stancing legs I can't avoid it. Because if I do, there's the stupid gut balance-disrupt attack which is just as bad. I don't see why bonecrushers need such restrictive damage attacks.

That argument is akin to balancing knight damage around those with adept resilience. You simply can't make the assumption that only a few will transcend their skills... similarly you have to balance around people who have taken full advantage of skills, weaponry, racial bonuses and artifacts. You consider the best knights, and bring them into line.
As for unspecialized Faelings being disadvantaged, I think there is a limit there. Aside from the stupidity of the Faeling specialization concept, all races should be equally capable (to within a small margin) in combat. Combat is the IRE method of character interaction, resolution, roleplay and advancement. Faelings should be weak if they take damage, yes, but they should also be very difficult to hit to balance it. Merian are also slightly weak if they are constantly taking damage, but in return they are fast and very powerful if they choose to go onto the attack.

Oh and Murphy, your "removing resilience will fix everything", isn't gonna happen, it'll screw with everyone's bashing ability as well, next to nerfing venom shrugging and barely having any effect on elemental knights anyway...not a very viable solution.
Removing elemental runes is the only way to balance this kind of damage, the gap between knights with elemental runes and knights without, is bigger than the damn Grand Canyon.
You could have elemental runes convert 10% of the damage, which will still result in ~150 more damage per blow, and give them an added effect, like 25% chance to:
- chill (cold rune), set ablaze (fire rune), extra charybdon (poison run), give epilepsy (lightning rune), or convert 50% into magic (magic rune).

Specializations in general are fine. Its only one hastily assembled one that I have a problem with.
Regardless, I think that the knight changes are far from over.
