Birthdays

In online games, such as Lusternia, there are some distinguishing marks that long-time players like to have. Runescape, for example, gave out santa hats one year. Those now are prized, and show you as a long time player.

So, currently, we only have one way of doing this, and its broken.

The people who got here within the first hour were born on the 1st of Estar. Or, well, since the system had just started, the 0th of Estar. However, those of us that logged on then were bumped to the 0th of Estar. So, my brother Murphy is older than me, even though I was among the batch that got here first.

So, can we put all those people on the 1st of Estar, or the 25th of Roarkin, a year back? I've heard several people have this same problem, and wish that it were changed.

Thanks. happy.gif

I noticed it today too, when Aajen and Murphy were talking about how old they were...I look like I'm 23 days newer but darnit I was before them! Let us be born 25 Roarkian!

But since you can choose to start as 16 years old up to 29 years old, doesn't it sort of invalidate character birthdays as a mark of player term anyway?

Richter2005-06-22 06:23:22
Not for us who are turning 50 next year. biggrin.gif

Yeah, I was one of those people who was connecting every 2 minutes, waiting for it to go live, and now I got born on the 25th of Estar... I got gypped!
Erion2005-06-22 13:13:13
Yea, repeated threads on this. Hell, give us the 0th of Estar or something amusing. Let it be known as the Beginning of the New Weave - change the year we were born or something amusing. biggrin.gif

We have the Kethuru honors line to mark us as old people. I dont see what the big deal is with the birthdays. There is no way to tell if you were born the first of Estar when the game opened, or if you were born several game years later and just chose an older age.

I sincerely doubt this is true. I feel pretty confident that even though we mortals don't have a way, the (proper) people could tell you the exact second you created your character.

Guess we'll hand out little red santa hats.

Then why do you care about the birthdays? Whether it says you were born the first or the 25th of the month, the mortals can't tell if you were among the first, and the Divine can. huh.gif

And I wouldn't mind having a santa hat! I need something to doff.

Look, I'll say this really slow since Richter already explained it. Those of us who were created at the very beginning AND who picked the oldest possible age should be the oldest players alive. If you made a character a month after me and picked the oldest age, you'd still be a month younger. Maybe it does't really matter for those who picked 16, since they could look like they were born earlier by making a new character 5 years later who was 10 years older, but for we old folk, it matters!

Clear enough?

See, Murphy still thinks he's older than me. I beat him in by two hours, and yet it shows me 23 behind him. -That's- the problem.
Murphy2005-06-23 03:36:18
heh I do that to give you a little bit of stick there Richter old mate.

till then, I'm older!
Richter2005-06-23 03:59:24
See, you're older than me irl already, do I get no satisfaction?

Not everyone, there was some bug that altered birthdates. Ixion was created within seconds of Lust opening, but he's not "born" on the 1st of Estar.

Anyhoo, like the santa hat idea, or some other token for those who've been here from the beginning.
Richter2005-06-23 05:11:28
Ixion. You just missed the entire point of the thread. *patpat*

The entire explaination, strangely enough, can be found in the text you quoted! happy.gif

actually i like the idea of collectibles, uniques, rare items... stuff that you can show around or sell off for a price. Just something I always wished IRE had.

DUDE!, aetolia, and achaea both gave players rings when the game had been opened for 100, in game years, and i know achaea has cool events and perm prize's every 100 in game years, so i think we can all just tough it out and see what happens when lusternia's been opened for a 100 in game years, i think we will all be pleasently surpised, i hope........YOU BETTER NOT LET US DOWN!!
