Come on, Shamarah, once the initial "newness" rubs off, it will just be another skill like everything else. I wish more people would try to restrain themselves from jumping into a new skill that opens like this. I mean.. I understand why they do it, but you just have to be wary about it. ESPECIALLY after Estarra put up that nice Astronomy disclaimer on the announce board. I loved that!

Overall, though, I really enjoyed this event (except the whole Magnagorians killing Marinus who we need to rid ourselves of these gorgogs). Well done, and very unexpected. My thanks go out to all the unseen and unheralded coders, testers, and admins who made this possible.

well its all well and nice mages and guardians got a new skill, when are us warriors going to get another specilization? i mean this is now 2 new skill sets the mages get and one new one the guardians get.
Shamarah2005-06-24 21:42:24
Pfft, Vesar, the announce just made me want it more sad.gif
Thorgal2005-06-24 21:42:25
Warriors are probably getting a new knighthood specialization at some point, if what I've been hearing is correct.

Mages got two new skills? News to me...

Everyone wants something, be it a new city (Hallifax/Gaudiguch), a new skillset (Warriors, etc), a new guild (polearm-based guild), or just new areas (Aryian Isles). There only a finite amount of time that the admins can work on these. Besides, when something new goes in, don't you want it to work properly? If they rush it out due to player demand, you'll just end up getting more complaints because things don't work as they should.

Warriors also get more skillchoices than the other two archtypes. They get to choose between High and Low Magic, Bonecrusher or Blademaster, and for Ebonguard and Serenguard, Night/Moon or Crow/Stag.

Good point. I'd of course like to see the mages get an alternative to Aquamancy, but again, this goes back to my earlier point about finite time...

But isn't Aquamancy what defines the Aquamancers? You sure you didn't mean Illusions?
Thorgal2005-06-24 21:48:13
Well, as to coders having a lot of work, a new skillset is absolutely the last I had expected to get implemented now.
Lisaera2005-06-24 21:48:26
The Aquamancers... having an alternative to Aquamancy...

I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but can you please read your posts and think about them before clicking "Add Reply"?
Vix2005-06-24 21:50:07
Ha! Ninja'd Lisaera!

Ahem, and from what I've heard of Astrology it's very very very confusing... All these signs and never-before-heard-of planets...
Vesar2005-06-24 21:50:21
What I was referring to was an alternate to working with water in the way we currently do. Rhysus had the idea earlier of combining all heat-based skills into a seperate skillset, and all ice-based skills in another, and allowing us to choose between what type of mage we would like to be.
Singollo2005-06-24 21:51:23
You could probably force Serenguard to be moon, and they'd be happy.
Anumi2005-06-24 21:57:17
Eh. So I'm a newness-whore. Not that I'm necessarily going to up and switch to an Astrology person, but it just sounds cool to me. I like things that are baroque and needlessly complex and confusing. Like me! wink.gif

Anyway, yeah, Dreamweaving is kind of cool, except that the offense in it is kind of lame, and if you're spying on anything important, you'll probably get noticed and violet/kether'd to bits because most anything important usually involves high-ranking people with high-ranking skills. Though that demesne blackout is pretty cool wink.gif

Yeah, I'm like a little ewok. I see shiny new things and I lunge for them. So sue me smile.gif

One day, warriors will get bows.

Stag -> bolting

Bolting + Bows = freakin insane.

The day of the Stag is coming... fear it.

While this is by and large true of you, at least you manage it in an endearing way. And it isn't always true...after all, how long have you been engaged to the same person in Achaea? wink.gif
Anumi2005-06-24 22:12:47
That's true. It's generally only true in ways that involve me buying large sacks of credits to fuel some new skill or class that's come out. So really, it's a net plus for everybody.

And once again, anyone who finds this all to be ridiculous and off-topic, it's my topic, go get your own.

But as for astrology, I can't wait to see it in action. Luckily, work ends now. So, can regular people tell what sign they were born under? Can you tell my fortune, if you're an astrologer? I can see it now...

*astrologers checks the star charts* I see misfortune in your future. *Anumi is slain by the might of a red weevil* Damn, you're good.

I think the base damage of SUN needs to be upped by 100 or so.
Munsia2005-06-24 22:49:09
the damage isnt immense is it?
