Did any of you stop to think that sun isn't supposed to be a replacement for cosmic fire, or curse? Tarot, Healing and Hexes are not damage skills. They are not supposed to be. What makes you think that Astrology will all of a sudden be an uber-damage skill set? What makes you even think that it will be an uber-affliction skill set? If Lusternia is good at one thing, it's doing things differently.

There's a difference between "not a damage skill" and "completely worthless 30-200 skill." sleep.gif
Daganev2005-06-25 11:19:30
because whats the point of having a skill that does damage if its always going to do less damage than the basic skill a newbie starts with?
Lisaera2005-06-25 11:25:21
I've seen a couple of people who have seen the purpose of it, if you think every skill you can't see an excellent reason for is useless immediately you are going to really hate Astrology.

I think it's kind of like the old chaosrays. If you cast a ray from a zodiac sign, sometimes you get some nice afflictions, other times you zonk out and get 50 asphyxiation damage wink.gif

Anyway, the stat bonuses and penalties are kind of neat, but I think the "worst thing astrology can do" is probably something like casting anorexia/asthma/stupidity on someone for free, on a regular eq if the stars are right. Along with your passive afflictions as a guardian. Or you might be able to do that for 3 power if the stars are somewhat less right, but still good. If the damage resistance spheres are currently that worthless, I'm sure they'll be looked at, and the +stats spheres don't seem to be able to get to +5. But yes, that's huge. Even if you could give a merian an additional +2 int on top of knowledge and war blessings, that's mean. Granted, an opposing astrologer can wipe that out in one move, so it becomes a question of which sphere has the right stars to make it cheaper. And of course, blasting a tae'dae ur'guard with even a -2 int would be pretty nasty on the mana pool. Absolve/toadcurse-city.

Remains to be seen. I'm still pondering changing over to the Shadowdancers on my main because I dig on the skill enough, having peeked at it in alt-town.

Is there a cure for the spheres?

They wear off after a while (read, a long while), plus an astrologer can use the reverse sign to break it.

And as we just tested, focus spirit doesn't work.

Casting Sun alone is probably dumb, but it can be combined to augment other abilities. Sun is useful as a bonus effect.

Most annoying thing ever when we were having the event to get astrology...

Edathic zi'Prouep raises an eyebrow at Croobuk zi'Prouep.

Fiik zi'Prouep says, "Night encompasses all the stars, now that our original
pact is void, the followers of Night are those we should turn to, they are most
suited to help us."

Edathic zi'Prouep raises an eyebrow at Croobuk zi'Prouep.

Adushoc zi'Prouep says, "Sister, your reasoning is illogical."

With an expression of extreme anger, Croobuk zi'Prouep slaps Adushoc zi'Prouep
really hard across the face.

Edathic zi'Prouep says, "The cosmic students of the New Star are the inheritors
of our duty, there is no other option but to adhere to the old pact, these
Celestines are who we should turn to."

Edathic zi'Prouep says, "Your computations are erroneous, sister."

Fiik zi'Prouep scoffs arrogantly at Adushoc zi'Prouep.
Adushoc zi'Prouep says, "There is no substitute for experience, the followers
of Moon are closely linked to what we seek. They are the best choice and they
are the ones we should turn to."

"Ha!" Fiik zi'Prouep exclaims to Edathic zi'Prouep with gusto.
Edathic zi'Prouep shakes her head at Adushoc zi'Prouep.
Edathic zi'Prouep says, "Your computations are erroneous, sister."

Fiik zi'Prouep scoffs arrogantly at Adushoc zi'Prouep.

say to fiik You are correct, my friend
You say to Fiik zi'Prouep, "You are correct, my friend."

Croobuk zi'Prouep says, "To do our duty, we must seek those with the greatest
power. And logic dictates that is the Nihilists."

really hard across the face.

Fiik zi'Prouep says, "Who keeps the stars above us. Mother Night! We must
beseech the Shadowdancers to help us."
Edathic zi'Prouep exclaims, "The Star of Celest shines brighter than Papaxi!
That is where we are called to, sisters!"

Edathic zi'Prouep raises an eyebrow at Croobuk zi'Prouep.

Fiik zi'Prouep says, "There are followers of Night in the realm. There can be
no other choice but to go to them."
Adushoc zi'Prouep says, "There is no substitute for experience, the followers
of Moon are closely linked to what we seek. They are the best choice and they
are the ones we should turn to."
Croobuk zi'Prouep throws her arms in the air and screams bloody murder at Fiik
zi'Prouep.

brute determination needed to complete our aims, they are the ones best suited
for what we seek."

Making no sudden movements, Edathic zi'Prouep backs away from Fiik zi'Prouep
slowly.

Okay, basically, that would loop over and over again whenever someone said a keyword, and sometimes, they would go off each other saying keywords and it was sooo annoying and SOOO spammy.
