I was looking at the forums for Aetolia, and I found a thread that asks who or what do you base your character off of. I thought it would be interesting to see what we Lusternians used to base ours.

So, start posting!

A Goddess in Achaea that I was very close to, added to some of my own bitchyness.

All the qualities that L wish I had. With the same insecurities, doubts that I have.

My charachter is like water and is shaped by the vesel that he is placed in.

Seeing the title, I was hoping the post would elaborate on what you were looking for. I spent like four hours sketching out my character before I logged in to create him (admittedly an hour of that was wrestling with names) so I don't know what part to say.

What shapes my character most is his race. His entire history revolves, in some way, around his experiences as a trill. Everything else is pretty much secondary.

I remember with almost every character I've ever made on any game, sitting and staring at a blank screen for hours thinking of a name.

I suppose you are speaking to me. What I am asking is what things did you use to make your character as he or she is now. What OOC influences did you draw upon, for example personality traits of various people or inspirations from different cultures.

For instance - When I read the histories, I drew on Celtic inspirations for Jasper to always be a follower of Night regardless if anyone knew. Jasper's name is a blackish green color, which easily fit into Glomdoring being tainted nature. And the rest... well, I am rather tired so I will explain later.

For me, absolutely nothing. I made up his character as I went along.

It really is much more fun that way, in my opinion.
Daganev2005-06-26 23:44:40
Oh, in that case I started off thinking of how would a High Wisdom low Int Evil Warrior work. I used whinny the pooh for quotes to get the mindset right and went from there. I saw Fain's Fulrux, and that set the tone for Daganev for the rest of the game.

Seeing as how I had taken a long break from RPing when I returned to Lusternia, I based Laneth roughly around myself so I could make things a little easier to get back into.

My alt, though, is based of a character in a Tanith Lee book, Volkhaavar.

I base murphy off some of the people i've met in the army, and also parts of myself while I was in charge of troops as well, mixed in with some flavour of bad guys i've seen in movies

Next time, just start with A, end with U, and pick a couple random letters to go in between tongue.gif

I like playing tragic characters and I like playing priests. Add in my love for Celtic mythology and Cronnacht was born. I try to combine more traditional pagan influences and the zealotry of a medieval crusader in him. My concept was to take a truly faithful, compassionate, yet duty bound individual and break him. Hopefully it worked.
Amaru2005-06-27 00:06:26
Well yeah, it was a sort of generic blend between my Achaean character and my real name. I was originally going to make a 'Raphael' but Rafael beat me to that, really.
Malicia2005-06-27 00:12:30
I thought of the word 'malice' and came up with Malicia. Took a few seconds! I had also used the same name in a game I played a while ago titled 'Shadowbane'.

Anyhow, I didn't have a clue what I'd try and accomplish until I was named Champion. I thought to myself: Duty, Responsibility! I can do this! smile.gif

Raphael (Male Merian).

He does exist. We went around calling ourselves name brothers for awhile, heh.

I play myself off as a Holy man trying to end all evil. Not really there with my Achaean - but it got much worse when I seen the Boondock Saints movie, heh. Unfortunately any IRE character I play I can't seem to get off a fanatic aspersion.
