Recruitment

Back to Common Grounds.

Before I even thought about trying to convince people to start it up, I would wait until Lusternia got its groove back, and I actually start enjoying the game again. I don't know what it is, but in the last couple of weeks or so (about the same time all the Divine mysteriously disappeared simultaneously from the irc chat room) the fun in the game seems to have disappeared, and I find it actually requires effort to force myself to log in.

Stop making the credit market so unbearable to new players and we might get more.

I agree, cheaper credits would make the newbs happier and keep more here.
Richter2005-06-28 20:30:38
Again, I'm going to say it was more than me. I only raise the market when I have credits, by buying those lower than mine, and adding them to my stash.

I have to wonder, if without me, would the market look just the same as it does today?

Probably.

You could probably work it out based on a rough percentage of the total credit market that can be attributed to you
Unknown2005-06-29 02:21:45
Credit markets on IRE games always start out around 2500, climb up to almost 7000, then sometimes they fall a little. With or without Richter. I think.
Unknown2005-06-29 03:05:30
Well, they were around 3-3.5k in Aetolia last I checked. Like... yesterday.

But doesnt that usually take about 3 real years?

And yeah, I miss the Divines in irc too sad.gif
Asarnil2005-06-29 08:20:26
Being able to chat with the Divine, get feedback and generally have a good time on IRC was probably one of the defining features of Lusternia for me - except when something stupid was happening on Lusternia and some idiot decided to bring it to the chat room and turn that into a huge bitchfest - ive hid in #LusterniaRadio with Branwyn and Haja on more than one occasion because it was getting retarded.
Syrienne2005-06-29 09:56:34
One of the reasons credit market sucks in Lusternia is because its the youngest and smallest. Once Lusternia becomes more established and people feel less like they're gambling when buying credits it will probably be a little more reasonable.. though Richter buying the cheapest and restocking them at higher prices doesn't help for sure.

Really? Lusternia's 7 months old or so by now. That's quite settled, I think. Hmm.
Syrienne2005-06-29 10:04:06
Time isnt the only factor. Consider also Lusty still faces some major balance hurdles and much changes from week to week, literally.
Murphy2005-06-29 10:08:45
credit market is supply and demand...

If richter buys up all the cheap supply, and there is a constant demand, then his will sell at the higher price till the market reaches an equilibrium

You're right, but lots of changes can be attractive to new players (for example, reading Imperian's announce posts and seeing all the changes there is a very positive experience somehow, for me at least) and the only major balance hurdles a player is likely to encounter without being at the top or middle tiers of combat are the organisational ones, which I don't think one would consider as a factor as to whether a credit purchase is worth it.

That might just be me though.
Murphy2005-06-29 10:15:04
is it just me? or are all the people who change over to glomdoring quitting and getting depressed?

maybe thats a hint!
Unknown2005-06-29 11:30:20
I'm not depressed! It's more because i mean we declined the alliance with mag early on, which was a bad idea, and now we're getting owned moreso then Celest in open beta, i mean they atleast got a village, though it wasn't Seren and mag against them, just Mag. wink.gif

Its not just credits.

With people on IRC, AIM and everyother form of communication there is absolutly no secrecy of any kind and any type of RP plot from a single group to a divine started event is instantly leaked, debated and judged before it is even started.

People have multiple chars in every city and nothing can be kept secret, from battles to politics. Time and again a group is gathered to go and hit a town or area only to see an instant gathering of the opposition at the exact point of attack.

Also fundamentaly while the game is pretty fun it suffers from an entrenched highschool mentality which means most players degrade into little powermongers, crude sludge slingers of either slander or sex talk or just individuals who couldnt care less about the game other than to make it miserable for others in anyway possible.

And all this is with a max player base of about 100. The divine have really done a great job on the world, same with all the IRE games but IRE games just seem to attract the blackest little lumps of coal on the planet to play.

Yeah, and I think I once bought some armour on runescape for 5000 gold. biggrin.gif

You can't compare things between games.

Also, people -do- realize Aetolian mobs don't drop gold, right? They do not have many 5k gold quests like we do. Their economy is completely different.

I completely agree on all points.
Daganev2005-06-29 17:52:03
Well, I'm selling Ebonguard Guild credits at 1800 each... That should help a bit.

If you really think credit prices are too high, I suggest talking to your Guildmasters and suggesting lowering the credit prices in all the guilds, if we all came up with the same price, then that should lower the credit market as everyone will be wanting to just buy thier guild credits and won't waste money on the market credits.

The important part there however, is to try to sell your guild credits MOSTLY to people who are not allready trans 5 skillset.

QUOTE(Richter @ Jun 27 2005, 02:26 PM)
I'm not sure if its just me, but I think Lusternia is still fairly small player-wise. I see many of the same people, day after day, and it can be irritating knowing most of the people on QW.

So, here's my idea. Recruitment!

Nab your friends from other games, post on other game forums, vote for us on TMC and TMS, tell your friends, your enemies, and your pets!

I know most of us want more people to fight/buy from/sell to/RP with, etc, so here's our chance! Let's help make Lusternia capable of handling more cities, other continents, and more planes.
