I have been playing muds a while and i notice a lot of the same weapons. I was wondering if maybe we could get a few new ones or diffrent ones like a scythe, sickle, or something along those lines. I am just wantign to know if anyone else had any thoughts on some new weapons?
Elryn2005-06-29 02:14:45
Druids already have a sickle.

I'd like to see shuriken. shuriken.gif

bah shows how much i payed attention to them. Are they like the wiccans daggers there just to point?
Elryn2005-06-29 02:20:45
Yep. You probably don't see them too much because Druids have to juggle them with cudgels.
Unknown2005-06-29 02:23:45
ah see iw ant to see some for combat. Not just point, but thats just me i would love if weaponsmiths could make custom weapons if aproved bye the gods. I know they can make diffrent looking versions of weapons but i would like them to be able to make brand new weapons or something.

Two-handed weapons need some love. Currently they are useless. We need more claymores and halberds and bardiche and the such that are big and nasty. Just don't make them useless.
Acrune2005-06-29 03:49:54
I want to see staff combat. And I dont mean staff pointing. I mean, like, lord of the rings gandalf style fighting tongue.gif
Arundel2005-06-29 03:52:01
Pff, he never really fought with his staff. He just swung it around and pretended to be hitting them when he was really just being magical.

I agree with the two-handed weapons, but that's not entirely new. For a truly "new" weapon, it'd have to be something that hasn't been done before.
Acrune2005-06-29 03:55:47
Eh, either way, it was still really cool. I've always liked staff combat, because swords and flails and axes and such are so over done in movies, books, and games.
Arundel2005-06-29 03:59:57
I agree, but badly-done staff combat is so much cheesier than any sword/mace/whatever combat. Look at Brotherhood of the Wolves.
Unknown2005-06-29 04:03:31
Yea i would love to see staff combat. I would love an archery skillset that anyone could learn would be great.

frog, thats a bad idea giving EVERYONe ranged attacks, I can't think of a worse idea.

On that note, I think we should work on getting the current speicialtions fixed up (bonecrusher afflictions mainly) before we think about new types

Trust me, you can think of plenty worse ideas. tongue.gif

That said, everyone having ranged attacks would be poor. There's a reason mages and druids have that as a forte.

A new weaponry specialisation certainly wouldn't go amiss, though. We were granted the (extremely useful, if situational) astrology before healing was really brought up to scratch, and I don't think anyone's willing to say that bonecrusher and blademaster are really badly broken in either direction.
Murphy2005-06-29 05:35:16
I am, and all the other bonecrusher's who've tried to go the speed route are also willing to say our afflictions blow for speed/wounding.

All bc needs are a few little tweaks and things fixed up, and they'll be on par

Ah, dear, you missed the cue again. Nevermind, we'll try again another time.
celahir2005-06-29 09:51:28
we need:

Bastard Swords
Better Pikes and Spears
Better Axes
Bows
The Ninja Guild biggrin.gif
Unknown2005-06-29 12:18:00
Ninjas = OHHH HELL NO!

They'd be like bards in Achaea, they jump around, do shite all damage, and try to affliction people up, where here the venoms would fail them. Adding a Polearms specialization to Knights would be one of the better ideas, which then would include, Halbers, Staffs, Pikes, and such, a skillset based entirly around ranged combat would just see us sitting in rooms a few away from eachother, flinging, shooting, staffing eachother, healing, shielding, until someone gets the balls to walk in, die, get rezzed, and repeat. That was always the main problem with ranged combat.

Having a Axe specialiation i believe would come in with Hallifax, while Polearms would come in with Gaudi.
Unknown2005-06-29 13:12:47
Yeah Ninjas are a negative. Let's stay away from that.

As for pikes and spears, we need more of those. This goes back to the point about two-handed weaponry. After a little tweaking, a whole lot more options will be available.
Unknown2005-06-29 14:09:34
In addition to new weapons we need the current weapons updated. You can't cause an affliction with an axe, lance, spear, polearm, or what-have-you. Like Axes on achaea you couldn't do half of your knighthood skills, like lunge but they could be used for others such as break I think. Add afflictions and restrictyions to all the other weapons. It's pointless to use axes to get wounding down to negatives then switch and pray for an affliction.

That said

I think it would be cool if we could have more weapons. It seems like weapon and armour designs slowed to a trickle and then just stopped completely
Unknown2005-06-29 14:43:39
If I'm going to have a two-handed polearm, I want it to be a reach weapon. Drag people into the room or just whack them a bit from some neighboring room. The target could use a riposte/coule to grab your polearm and pull YOU into THEIR room. Heh.
