How can we save Glomdoring?

Back to Common Grounds.

Ok, so Glomdoring is losing players still day by day it seems. We have very few good fighters, even Celest outnumbers us when compared. We do have alot of RP that people participate in and the Commune itself has become more stable in it's motives and views, but we seem to still lose players. What can we do, from our side of things, to help out Glomdoring and draw more players or keep the ones we have? I know the fighting with Serenwilde and Celest is a big worry to novices joining us, but we honestly can't do anything about that because Seren and Celest literally refuse to make peace with anything "tainted".

From a fighters perspective, and please, comment on these, I've seen us lose ALOT of fighters and people just become pacifists because of the following, which I believe needs to be looked at and reconsidered. I know most of these would have to be looked at by the divine, but still, any further suggestions or comments are welcome.

1) Any possible way to make Glomdoring neutral and shed this taint?
2) Our fighters have no safetey skill (such as trueheal/ghost) or any type of ress ability (Resseruction, lich, the Moon conclave skill). This would assit a great deal on th combat side of things if we had something to fall back on other than just trying to run away or die. Even enemies such as Elryn and others I';ve talked to have said it's a bit unfair Glom has nothing like this yet.
3) Change Wisp/Flow back to what it was OR make Faethorn niether type of forest so we can atleast do our quest without being slaughtered.
4) Not sure how many agree with this one, but I think the Archway on ethereal makes raiding MUCH easier than before.
5) fix our Nexus so we can immolate, that's been bugged alot and whined about forever now

goto go now, but will add more later.

You need an environment which worships and encourages fighters. So does Celest.
Daganev2005-06-28 19:39:38
The immolation thing is fixed...

I'm not sure what you mean by losing people, as many of the people we had were just alts trying to see something new...

But yes, having nothing but war since day one makes it a place newbies do not want to experience, but as you said, nothing will fix that.
Shamarah2005-06-28 19:43:00
Toning down the Faethorn conflict is a long-overdue step that will give Glomdoring room to grow...
Daganev2005-06-28 19:50:35
If only that were true...

The only way to tone it down from the perspective of serenwilde PLAYERS is to remove any concept of taint, and to completely destory the mythology of Lusternia.

I should reactivate my alt there, join Shikaris order and start defiling Hajamins shrines as I originally planned.. sleep.gif Just.. no time right now.. *le sigh*
Shamarah2005-06-28 20:02:22
Working against yourself doesn't seem like it'd be a lot of fun... you'd get on your alt and do damage to Hajamin... then you'd get on Aesyra and undo the damage to Hajamin and then do damage to Shikari... then you'd get on your alt and undo the damage to Shikari and do damage to Hajamin... then you'd get on Aesyra and undo the damage to Hajamin and do damage to Shikari...

I think that we are losing people, yes, and I also think that the whole "Glomdoring getting their rear ends handed to them" is a deterrant for novices.

A few things need to be done:

Gain more fighters. We're screwed on villiages, we need more people to fight.

Have a few "big name" people. For some reason, none of us seem to stand out to me, as a fighter, leader, anything. We have no Amaru's and Daevos's.

Have Viravain come back. I know she's busy and can't drop by all the time, but, sheesh, we could get any number of people to log onto Viravain, to raise the morale. Some of us miss her, and some people wonder why we only see half of our Divinities (though the half that is here is amazing).

Nerf the ethereal conflict. It sets us up to be in a neverending war.

Give celest something to fight against, other than Glomdoring. Sure, Magnagora is tainted, but is Glomdoring? That's a big debate that's really never been settled. Richter still maintains Glomdoring is not tainted, just that it has been twisted by the taint that -was- there a long time ago.

Oooh. Was it Richter or Daganev that abused their powers this time and deleted my post?

It was probabbly your bad internet connection that never got the post up in the first place... instead of speading slander, why don't you just repost and send a PM to Estarra about abuses?
Kaervas2005-06-28 20:35:56
That's weird, I saw his post before it was deleted.
Unknown2005-06-28 20:37:53
hmm did I get something wrong? Isn't the Glom RP that the GLomdoring is -not- tainted but was restored to it's former glory? I mean everyone in the Basin knows it's tainted -except- those that live in Glomdoring, they don't see the Taint and despise Magnagora because it is tainted... At least that was my thought on the RP there, might have changed..? unsure.gif
Daganev2005-06-28 20:37:54
hmm, I didn't... wierd... ok, I'm the one with a bad internet connections.
Unknown2005-06-28 20:40:25
You can list the reasons right here Richter instead of a PM. If Daganev's slander against Serenwilde Players remains while my post was deleted then I will in fact send off an email about the abuse of powers.

Half of that is Viravain's perspective.
Viravain dislikes Fain, and thus anything Fain is connected with, Viravain does not know that taint exists at all.

Another perspective is that "taint" is a terrible word, and should not be used as it has a negetive meaning. This is similar to the "Liberals" changing their name to "Progressives", or the Replublicans calling themselves the GOP.

Anotehr perspective is that "taint" as a word should be embraced, which is Magnagora's view, and Glomdoring doesn't like that because it just gives credibility to the Old Celestian Empire.

Another perspective is that as Richter stated.

Another perspective is as the Seren and Celest see it.

The only reason Glomdoring does not like Magangora is because it was an Empire, or is trying to be an empire. And when Glomdoring first came about they tried to force the political situation by not respecting Virvain's wishes to "go it alone"

Right, because Ethelon isn't a "big name" fighter.
Jairdan2005-06-28 20:49:38
He isn't, really. NOWHERE near the level of Amaru, Daevos, Murphy, Tuek, or Narsrim.
Galatae2005-06-28 20:50:25
Not many novices enjoy joining the game on the losing side of things.

Personally, I as a player enjoy the challenge, but some people, especially those just starting out, would probably feel safer learning the ropes of the game and developing their character without war constantly breathing down their neck.

Glomdoring needs to find some way to be winners, or at least enforce a facade of that a bit more forcefully. Though, it's difficult to "go it alone" and still remain strong in the face of a Celest-Serenwilde unofficial alliance.
Richter2005-06-28 20:50:28
The post was deleted because:
1. It was pointless
2. It was you trying to poke fun at Daganev
3. It was hijacking
4. It added nothing
5. It had a whole twenty or so lines of spaces, making it irritating as well as pointless, hijacking, adding nothing, and poking fun at someone

I made sure to go back over Daganev's posts before I did that saw nothing wrong. If you said he was "slandering" someone, he must have edited it out. I'm very careful when I do things, and I make sure there is no room for mistakes, because at the first chance you get, 90% of you will cry foul and try to get me fired from being a mod. It's happened.

This is not the appropriate place for such a discussion, and you showed that you are incapable of acting in an adult manner by refusing to deal with the issue in PMs.

Now. The topic is, how can we save Glomdoring? If you would kindly post about it, I would much appreciate it.

I rather like Ethelon, but Jairdan says it:

Also, he hasn't attained what Daevos, Amaru, and Narsrim have, in my head. I think of Amaru, I automatically think, Celest. Same for the others. Don't get me wrong though, Ethelon is a killer fighter, I was just talking about more than just combat prowess.
