This can be magic also, and yes it is necessary.

It would have prevented me from having Bully status on fellow commune mates for "helping them".

It would also prevent yougins who step out of line avoid losing xp when someone hits them in a rage.

I can hit you in the head with a tire iron and you may either 1. Die or 2. Become unconsious, all with the same blow of the same strength, depending on where you get hit and how you fall down. In the beatdown case you would just be unconsious instead of dead.

Yeah Dag, I really wish we had a way to just knock out novices. I kill them occasionally, when they're being idiots, and feel a bit bad about it.

you dont need to kill them, as much as scare the living daylights out of them.

once they see your iron will, they will bend to it if you go about it properly.

but you guys should be really hard on your novices, in terms of standards and being dickheads, go the forest without mercy!

Hmm, an old mud that no longer exists used to have the option that you could beat something into "submission" instead of just death. It was a toggle flag, you could switch around but if you beat them into submission, they just couldn't do anything for a specific amount of "recovery" time. Said amount of time would be about the time it takes them to get back from being a soul in Lusternia, and thus would just decommision them rather than killing them.

I like the idea, personally. Think of village influencing. The reason we kill people is to take them out of the influence effort...they lose some xp and conglutinate right back in. That's about useless to the killers since it's so fast, but all they have so they use it, and it's enough to make thread after thread of 'stop influencing violence' posts.

Imagine with beatdown. It's the best of both worlds...the beaters take people out for the time it takes to pray, the beatees lose nothing but a pinch of pride. At least as far as influence is concerned, that's about the perfect solution all around.

Really like this idea, I'd probably use it over actual attempts at killing most of the time as Chade is more about getting out there and getting involved rather than about killing in most cases.

It'd have to strip all defs as well.....to keep them out for that little bit longer and give them a power cost for avoiding death

I agree with the def stripping: Fact is the person should've died, if not by your mercy. The ailments would have to go as well. The power loss would probably be needed for some kind of needed penalty.

In fact, I can see it expanded beyond that. Duels where the loser hands over their blade (though I bet people using that would be RARE), abilities to steal power from a person who's knocked out.

I'd put a flail up for a prize for a duel if it were a duel worth having.

especially since they are artied.......On another note i want to be able to behead like on achaea, and either pike their heads, or add it into my person trphy cabintet (like the ur'guard champion's office has in its description)
