Yeah... cooking is dead, kinda sorta. Not many people from Magnagora need food (they just eat corpses), and most people in communes have Squirrel, and Celest...well... Celest buys food, I guess.
Although I could probably make a fortune by offering custom wedding cakes. *cough*
EDIT: We need a hijack window, like a quotes box! And a way to see only the hijacks in the thread...

Carrion is many many times better than Squirrel totem. I usually carry about 10 of Ibby's chicken dishes in my pack for when I get hungry.
Xavius2005-07-07 01:09:58
Squirrel is awesome for big races with big stomachs. I can understand the faeling frustration, though.

I must be doing something wrong because I've never had forage give me any food. Ever.
Sylphas2005-07-07 03:03:47
I'd hate to think how many rooms you'd need to fill a tae'dae or igasho.
I'd say try poking around the lesser used portions of Serenwilde, and Ethereal. I'd rather pay 160 gold or so and just buy the food though, instead of spending 15 minutes trying to forage.

I find squirrel perfectly adequate. I don't get why people have problems with it. Hartstone have an even EASIER time because they can just summon etherwoods in the middle of the sea or whatever and forage there. (It works, trust me.)
Sylphas2005-07-07 03:11:27
I have problems with it because I hate to drop what I'm doing to go forage when I can just whip out some meat, turn on satiation, and eat that.

Thing is if you compare the prices with things like credits, the value of gold has dropped big time to compensate with the high injection of currency. You could say that having high credit market prices is misleading since gold is easier to get here, but the means of acquiring this gold is not through trade but through hunting/questing which is actually the source of this injection. Now regarding the trades, yes supposedly prices should have increased to compensate but as we can see it has not happened. The reasons for these may be that we have more traders, like you said but if you make an observation within the game there is actually a lack of traders which makes it a bit hard to accept that as a working hypothesis. Most likely the reasons for the failure of price increase is actually the opposite... see people have been discouraged so much about their trades that they have given up on it as a source of profit. Thus price doesnt increase because the trade then falls out of the system. Trades have become somewhat like a community service ie I am a city enchanter i enchant not to earn a living i enchant because my citymates need these enchantments. So instead of it being "oh i want to earn profits" so ill go enchant somethings, its more like "oh i want to earn some gold" so ill go up to astral bash a couple of hours and ill just come down and take a break from my busy bashing schedule to do these enchantments for the city.

It's really easy, just cut the amount of gold astral critters drop, in half. Economics is very interesting, it's a shame seeing it choked to death by astral.

Astral for now is almoust infinity source of gold, but it isnt in long term.
Right now not many people bash there, its just few top ranked and its good gold right now, becose we dont link too much now.
But if more people will be able to survive there (it will happend) then nodes will be emty by most of the time and gold flow from there will be stoped.
Question is when it will happend?
And warriores/knights arent boring here, if i would like to see any changes to them in near future, it could be like Thorgal posted in Ideas, athletics specialization for speed and for tanky warriors.
Cool could be a skill tha could separate warriors from knights.
You know warrior like Conan and knight like Lancelot.

At an equal rate high level bashers are LEAVING Astral (quitting the game, retiring, etc.). And Gorgogs have just compounded the problem, you can make 14k gold a run from those and they're ridiculously easy.
Ekard2005-07-07 11:04:16
They are same as on astral, just dont team and chase.
And have nice room attack that go thro shields.

They do bugger all damage to me. And nymph stops them.
